Forums - Politics Discussion - World gone mad: People angry about "innocent until proven gulty"

Watch the video at this link:

http://time.com/4931796/betsy-devos-title-ix-sexual-assault/

And read the comments on the Time's tweet of this article:

Betsy DeVos states multiple times that sexual harassment will not be tolerable but also adds that due process is required. Of course, people got mad.

Is World Gone Mad a new series you're doing?

who cares shes an idiot either way

Ohhh, she's more competent than what her detractors describe who she is LOL ...

But enough about the subject of sexual assault, that's only a vanishing portion of education. She needs to focus more on the 'academic' part of education and raise PISA test scores ...

I do not like much of Betsy Devos' plans for education, but this is a position I have always held, and she formulated in a manner both sensible and concise. Well done.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

Brazil is a place that someone kill 20 (with full evidence and due process putting him as guilty) and there will be protests to defend the guy as a victim. But if someone say another tried a sexual assault or said something sensible about a minority they ask for prison for that person.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I really don't think you're using "World gone mad" properly. I'd argue that the world is less "mad" now than it has ever been. We used to burn people as witches...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Well, I'd argue that they were ignorant back then more so than mad. Now they have the benefit of science knowledge and yet...

That's fair. Though, I still think I'd argue that this isn't really an example of the world going mad. I mean, today I saw a church in Florida claiming to have moved hurricane Irma with prayer. That's mad, this is just a differing of political opinions.

Edit: I'd also like to add that I actually think were going in a positive direction in respect to our maddness. You really don't need to go back that far in human history to find some crazy shit that used to be common.

Perhaps the world is less mad now. I don't why they thought that those "guidelines" were a good idea in the first place.
