Since they are region free, maybe you could pick one up on your upcoming trip to Europe. Many countries there don't have the supply issues of NA and JP.

Just checked Amazon EU and they have stock for all versions, with the normal price (329 euros).

Splatoon 2 did well more than double the original did in it's first week and on a much smaller install base too. With the legs this game is known for I can see it doing 10 mil+ lifetime.

I wouldn't say that the Splatoon franchise is known for its legs. It's only the second game. The situation is totally different now, so we can't just assume the sales pattern will be the same as the first game's.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe that this game will sell very well, but I don't think that its legs will be particularly better than other Switch games.

It's really weird to say that a franchise with only a single game (the new one launched right now, so we have no data) has any kind of pattern on its sales.

Wow, I really hit something with my joking question about the price drop. Calm down people.

By the way, I just realized Japan has the highest sales of any region for Switch, 3DS and Vita. In the case of the Vita they have more than 50% of worldwide sales. Why do people claim Japan is no longer important as a market?

Because it's market shifted to handleds and alot of people wrongly think that handleds are not consoles worthy of their attention.

Wii U hit 14m thanks to rounding. Will it be able to stay ahead of Switch for a full year?

I think the Wii is safe for 2017 (not being passed by the switch).

Nintendo's official target is to ship 10M Switch units in its current fiscal year ending in March 2018.

They will probably do more, depending on how much they can ramp up production and how many of those components they are lacking, they can get their hands on.

Lets say by March 2018, they have shipped like 12-14m.

That means by the end of 2017, they should be over 11-12m.

But it doesnt look like its possible for the switch to pass the WiiU in 2017.

Yeah, many handhelds are great consoles in my personal opinion. But yes, a lot of people think different.

But it isn't about handhelds. It's about Nintendo winning and about creating an alternative reality where Nintendo is weak and cannot compete.

Nah, Vita is not Nintendo, although I admit them Vita isn't the strongest of the three. But it illustrates that for certain consoles Japan is indeed the strongest market. The handheld theory is fitting, Vita was mostly strong in Japan.
