Forums - Microsoft Discussion - PUGB Fixes Water Effects thanks to Rare

So, I wonder what this means for a potential PS4 port. Do Rare/MS own the tech? Or was it just something that they showed them to make the Xbox One X version look better by its release?

I doubt it means anything as the tech was created and runs through Unreal Engine 4 so I don't think Microsoft could 'own' it, likely it's free to use if you know how, similar to Lionhead when they created new Lighting Tech on UE4 for Fable Legends I believe Epic implemented it natively.

Anyway Sea of Thieves water tech is amazing so it's nice to see it in other games (It was also in Forza Horizon 3).

Ah, that's good then. I was wondering if it was something like source code that they'd own the copyright too.

"[Rare] said they loved the game, they play it a lot, but, 'Oh, you're [sic] water.'

Doesn't Forza games have their own engine?
