No.
Men in general are piss poor at hitting the water in public spaces. With that I prefer to see it up and more than likely cleaner in case I need to sit and poo.
At home, its a non-issue either way.

Because it's significantly faster? Anyways, I live on my own, so it's not something I really care about. I'll put it down out of habit from living with women in the past, I guess. That being said, my brother's ex had this really stupid habit of charging into the bathroom like a wild animal and sitting down without looking to see if the seat was up. I honestly can't think about that without chuckling a little. |
I remember when a friend of a friend went on this angry rant because he fell in the toliet after a relative left the seat up and he tried to use it in the dark. I mean, seriously, if you're too lazy to turn the light on then you deserve what you get.
Personally, my rule when I visit someone is that I leave the seat/cover in whatever position I found it. That's really all there is to it. Whatever someone likes is perfectly fine either way. At my house, you might find it in any one of the possible positions (like a Transformer) because I really don't care. It's not something I consider worth worrying about.

I keep it to a minimum. It's not good for you and it spreads germs.

Way I see it.... you do nr2 twice a day, but you go nr1 like 10 times.
So if your a guy, its more convient to just leave it up, as most often that ll be the place it needs to be when you enter the toilet.
Thats if your liveing on your own.
If you live with a girlfriend.... well more often than not, it should be down.
However, you dont want to be a sexist right? let her lift and close as needed, why should it be the man that commidates the woman always?
All that toilet seat should be down BS, only works if your saying women>men when it comes to the toilet hassel, lifting and closeing the seat always while the woman doesnt ever have to think about it? pppssh. Let her know what its like for you to lift it, by haveing her close it when needed, equal rights and all that :P

Well, there are times that sitting and peeing are better.
1. At night, lights all off and dont' want ot turn them on and mess with your eyes, thus just sit down. 2
2. Wanna sit on your phone/tablet/gaming device
I always put the seat down. Figure it takes like zero effort, and saves me from a fight with some woman who would never let it go, even thought it takes zero effort for them to also lower it before going. Also in relation to #1, if the seat is up and I don't turn lights on I could fall in, lol. But more importantly I don't want to have ot reach my hand back and feel if the seat is up or down with lights off. Disgusting.
But as for OP, I think he is talking about the lid. I have never seen the lid down in a toilet like ever. It's always open. You say you find that disguisting. Well clean your toilet then. But i find those toilet seat covers even more diguisting. Some puffy, carpet like cover on a toilet seat. Talk about gross. It's like carpet in the bathroom, no thanks.
