Forums - Politics Discussion - The utter lack of western media's reporting on Burmese Genocide is appalling...

Jesus Christ, I had no idea this was going on. This is just sick. Sadly the US is worried about fighting over oil that's not ours. Conflicts that we could help solve go unsolved because our agendas are so selfish. I'm praying for a resolve for these people.

It's been going on for years, I definitely know that as I remember reading about this long ago.

The U.S. can't possibly just "topple" it. As a matter of fact, Burma has extensive natural resources.
And they can't topple the government because Aung San Suu Kyi might be the only passable option for ruling, as imperfect as she might be.

If US touches Burma as well, you know this is going to be an even more diplomatic suicide. They're already doing that with the NK situation so making more enemies is not a wise move.

Watch one of the videos. The refugees were crying at the border about Bangladesh not letting them in, but a shitload of Bangladeshi protested the Genocide. Anyone see the irony?

Perhaps Europe should have done the same. Bloc refugees from entering and just protest lol.

Its not that important

Here's how you don't tackle this topic:

Post a vague that about how it's bad, but offer no more information outside of imploring people to do their own research.

Maybe a little bit of context and background on the situation would help garner interest?

What are you on about? I've seen lots of reporting on it.

NY Times reported on it today finally, lol

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/05/world/asia/un-rohingya-bangladesh-myanmar.html

So from what I read in that article:

Muslim  Militants/terrorist attacked "several police outposts and a military base", and as a reponce the military went back to the village the terrorist came from and killed like 370 muslims from that village? and now the muslims from that area are fleeing? some tried to take a raft/boat to Bangladesh, but their  boats capsized while crossing a river (and another 46 died).

Isnt this what Trump has said in the past?

If they attack us, hit them back even harder, and even saying he was for killing families of terrorist and bombing homes of them ect.

The problem is how do you deal with terrorists?

Apparently Myanmar military, dont like being attacked.

The less a country is related to another country, the less they care about that country. Myanmar has a completely different culture and their problems don't influence us, so we don't care.

sad but true to most country...

I've heard BBC report on it numerous times and I believe NPR has mentioned it a few times.
