I've never heard of that term before but considering "Pindu" translates to "Village Person" in Punjabi, I'm sure its fairly widespread. This type of violence is in select groups of people from India, but it shows that archaic practices such as this are still somewhat present in the culture. Then again, I'm not sure if anyone can effectively categorize the behavior of over 1.2 billion individuals.

I'm not doing that, just towards the people who are reported doing it, which unfortunately is a huge number of them.

Which part, lol

All of it. You're making a mockery of someone in an abusive relationship.

You're right. This type of practice is too big for it to go unnoticed. My comment wasn't meant to insinuate any disdain to a person who criticized India for its problems. I was just stating that there are different groups of people with different values in the country. I'm sorry if my statement seemed like it was directed towards anyone. I was jsut trying to state the complexity of the situation.

You know, the key word missing from all this is "punjabis". The state of Punjab is filled to the brim with drugee rednecks and ignorant people in general. 90% of these problems come from just 1/20 of india, which is the state of punjab. It's a shame people generalize this as India, because on places like New Delhi people are nicer than probably any American city. It's these fucking punjabis who bring shame to the nation. This problem isnt nearly as much common in the rest of india. If you ask how I know all this, I'm from New Delhi, India myself.

Eh. People generalize everything. There's people in Europe who generally believe the U.S. to be one of the worst places in the world. There's people that believe all whites are racist. Etc etc. People will generalize everything. It's just how it is. It's fucked up but true

Did you hear about Gurmeet Ram Rahim SIngh? As 1/2 Punjabi... I just want to state that I find actions such as these repulsive. As do many Punjabi people.

Not your comments, shikamaru317's comments.

I was replying to this statement: "I'm not doing that, just towards the people who are reported doing it, which unfortunately is a huge number of them".

I know, but you sounded like you were taking responsibility for shikamaru and AngryLittleAlchemist mocking a domestic abuse victim. Seriously, how is that even allowed on the forum?

Considering what you've said on this forum even today, I don't think you really want to go there.

Sorry if I came off as hotheaded there. I didn't mean to offend anyone there. It's just that I get a riled up people generalize punjab's problems as all of india's problems. That being said, I don't deny that there are many good punjabis out there against all this and fighting for good cause. I hope all the drug problems and using religion as an excuse to do things like these can stop. I'm hoping for it to get better.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

No problem man.  Punjab does have its problems... Especially with drugs. I just hope that one day the majority of Punjabi people who are goodhearted, kind people will speak out against practices such as this. Maybe then we can get along with different states.

Calm yourself you censorship loving snob.

Meh, the Indian community in the US is the wealthiest/most affulent group in the US, so I'd say in the US this stuff is rare, but for some people as with any group of people you're going to have some backwards idiots.

I'd say spousal abuse is probably worse for Eastern Europeans, in Russia it's legal to beat the shit out of your wife, you had a millionaire NHL player who had to go to prison and then got kicked out of the NHL for beating the shit out of his wife.

Women's rights are growing quickly in India though, there are many women that simply would not put up with this type of stuff.

Where we not waiting for another religious group that does this and worse to also speak out and change their ways? Since that has not happened, this might take a while as well. I expect this group to change before the other one.
