Forums - Politics Discussion - Trump has decided to end DACA

They shouldn't have ever been given work visas in that situation in the first place. They're more than welcome to become a citizen or live in the US legally.

I don't think you understan what this is about.  DACA protected the children of people who came here.  These are kids who may only know America, speak only English and have no connection to their parents country.  They pay taxes, they don't commit crimes (a key part of DACA) and are caught between a war that they were basically born into.  DACA reconsized the undue hardship placed on them and asked sought to protect them.  This has nothing to do with work visas.   They don't get entitlements like the rest of us but they do work and pay taxes... which honestly isn't fair anyway but who is counting.

Most white Americans cannot trace their lineage to 1775 (American indepedence):

https://www.quora.com/About-what-percentage-of-white-Americans-today-descend-from-immigrants-who-arrived-after-the-Revolutionary-War

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/brookings-now/2013/10/03/what-percentage-of-u-s-population-is-foreign-born/

That means even their families at some point were immigrants here.

What you posted only proves my point that nearly all US citizens have at least 1 ancestor dating back to pre-1776 ...

America exists mainly because of colonization ...

I'm black and American and roundly rejecct what you said.   Most american's are actually the product of immigration and that is not fake.  America exists because of a war against England.   And the colony exist because of the people who were actually here were stamped out... you know, the real natives... Factually everyone either immigrated or was a slave.  In my case, it is slavery but that doesn't make me any less American than you.

I understand it fine. Their parents crossed the border illegally with their children and lived here illegally for years without ever trying to become legal citizens. The parents should be deported and their kids should go with them. I don't believe in rewarding bad behavior whatsoever. They can easily live in canada or stay there while they apply for citizenship in the states. They are more than welcome to apply for citizenship to the US from the outside.

Colonization =/= Immigration ...

The vast majority of american land didn't even have a claim of sovereignty. It's like this, just because a territory is inhabited doesn't mean that the territory is recognized as a seperate state ...

Natives weren't killed because of violent conflicts, it's mostly cause of germs such as smallpox, measles, mumps and flu that their population declined that Americans were able to easily grow their land ...

Of course slavery didn't make anyone less American at the time but that doesn't mean illegally crossing the border should make you American ...

You do not do a half assed measure and say hey I did something. He had two terms to push and address such issues and yet he didn't go all out.

But then again I understand the hindrances from other sides but still doesn't make it inexcusable that he is talking trash about the administration's approach regarding this matter.

Jesus Christ. I am lying?

Guess my personal contacts on hospitals and schools were lying about how taken for granted these welfares given. Not to mention acting all damn entitled when some of them are probably paying close to nill.

Also I am not just blaming Obama. Have you read my statement? Or are you too blind to see? What I am saying here is that he has no fucking right to completely point fingers at people.

Anyway this thread like most political threads has devolved into fanaticism again. Obama is a sacred cow and Trump is a complete demonic icon. I would disagree since both aren't simply black and white and both have their ups and downs.

Back to the topic though, nobody here has told me with a straight damn face that there is no problem with the immigration enforcement. Nobody here has told me with a fucking straight face that the pampered treatment some illegal immigrants are getting here are just. Instead we'd just like to keep it at that because they're good for business so we just set aside the legalities. The half measured actions of before are the ones that dug the graves of where we are today. I understand as well that we will hurt if we kick them out. Therefore I think the correct thing to do at this point is do a program for them that will legitimize them. However I also think that once that is done, any future scenarios should be treated with fairness. Those who offended the immigration law by crossing borders illegally shall be deported. We need an iron hand for this case. The more we let things continue as such the more meaningless the system becomes. This won't stop by itself.

If you think that tipping the law for a specific set of people is just then I feel like everything is lost here. I don't even know why I should trust the system nor pay my due taxes. And the replies over here about how they're willing to welcome such injustice makes me say that the 10 years I've spent are complete fucking waste. Thanks for making me regret that we didn't leave with my mother when she left in 2006 and just entered US illegally. Since apparently, nobody gives a fuck if I'm an illegal immigrant and will embrace me with open arms and fight for my rights!

Hahahaha. Your, "contacts" lmaooooo. I became a legal citizen through California. I do not need a contact, I lived that life.

At least you believe treating children the way Trump intends upon doing is not the right way to do things. However, you avoided the specific problem still. That children are being victimized. I do not care about how you would plan to treat adults... or even the greater illegal immagration dillema. I care about if you believe what Trump intends to do to children is humane. Additionally, I want to know if people can converse about this specific topic and find a reasonable solution.

I do not know the point of your final paragraph. It does manage to push buck and blame... you are good at that.

My contacts meaning my friends and relatives. I don't want to talk more bullshit with you anymore. I mean you said it yourself. You benefited from such. Clearly you think abusing the system is about as equal as it gets. And favoring a particular group of people is a just system when they themselves have set up a rule to be followed. What's worse is that you actually seem to not want anything done about preventing future abuses. It's ok to have socialistic sides in a goverment but to make it so that it is abusable is nothing short of stupidity.

Yeah. Laugh at us. I honestly feel stupid now that I see how people like you who in a way percieve us as some entitled son of a bitches who deserve no say in this.  Those sacrificed years to be away from relatives and unable to visit them. You people make it seem like you have the utmost right not to suffer.

And also thanks for skimming through my damn post.

I'm also done with this thread as I'm feeling way too much like a "feminist" now seeing as how victimized I feel with how people percieve this mess and the actions to be taken. Only the ironic thing is, the victimization is actually happening.

Good.

Maybe this will pressure congress to actually enact some meaningful immigration reform.

Trump was right to end DACA. It was an unconstitutional abuse of power for Obama to start it in the 1st place.

All I can say on the subject is Trump is a shitty human being that was elected by who I consider horrible people, and I cannot wait until he is out of office for the many things he does, as he is, in my opinion, the antithesis of what it means to be American.

What does it mean to be American? Remember that the US was founded by rich, white male slaveowners.

#fakehistory

People seem to forgot that a large majority of the people lived in non-slave states during the founding of the republic.

2nd the US did not start slavery here. We were subjects of the British crown and they started it. I agree with the discription "birth defect" about slavery. It took about 70 years to fully ditch it. Which would be like from like from now to the beginning of the cold war.

And lastly it is a bit ingenuous to judge our ancestors by our modern moral norms. Slavery had always been a thing since the begginning of humanity. It was not until the industrial revolution that people started to actually care on a wide scale about the practice. Why then? Because it was no longer the most economic method. Machines are our slaves now. Also if you think about it in 150 years I am sure our descendents will find something we do that to us is "normal" to be barbaric. Maybe abortion, maybe something else we probably don't know right now which is why we do it... same applies to them (our ancestors).
