Forums - Politics Discussion - World gone mad: Father's Day ads pulled from TV for being too 'political'

Where are the leftists? I'd like to see them defend this.

I'm a "leftist". I'm not defending this because it's silly and pointless, and not worth defending.

It's the same reason why they don't mention anything about antifa in general or about their recent actions.

And probably the same reason they've kept quiet on the Rotterdam scandal.

That link doesn't work for some reason

This is ridiculous.

They could just add in two seconds of a gay couple in the ad

I think the "issue" that these overly sensitive people have is that it implies a father is an important part of raising a child, and some kids are raised by two mothers.

I donno, I just can't understand why people get so damn sensitive about these things. There's mountains of evidence showing the important impact a faithful father has on a kid's life as opposed to those who grow up without him, and there's also plenty of evidence that same sex couples are equally capable of raising kids. People really need to stop being so dang touchy.

I just googled rotterdam scandal and that's some messed up stuff. How did that go on from '97 to '13? Ugh... That's similar to them not wanting to show the video recording of assaults on subway trains for the same reasons.

From what little I know of the antifa movement, the hardcore ones seem like extremists who care nothing for the democratic process or rule of law; lumping them as "leftists" with Democrats etc. is almost as silly as saying Republicans are literally the KKK.  Or maybe I just misunderstood who-all you were meaning to encompass with the "leftist" term.

As for defending this?  Well, I do think there's not much to object to in the ad, although there is a reference to "mom and dad are a perfect team", which is probably in fact meant to mean "unlike gay couples" since the group in question seems to be pretty hardcore anti-gay, claiming that if gay rights pass in Australia the words "father", "husband", and "wife" might be banned [edit: never mind, that was some random stupid politician].  Mind you, this is based only on the link the OP cited since I knew nothing of this before the thread was posted.

Additionally, the organization that was being asked to put this up on TV didn't actually deny them the request, but asked them to mark the video with the name of their organization (or whatever "identification tag" means) due to the suspected political message.  They refused to attach their name to the clip.

Two words... Kathleen Kennedy.

That's as bad as ghostbusters. Probably more so. For me, it would have been good but the director disregarded any canon related to force powers and opened up alot of plot holes. That annoyed me to no end.  I'll agree with your fixed version of my post. lol

Yup. There's more open holes in that plot than Hugh Hefner at a coke party.

Meh, both Fathers Day and Mothers Day are bullshit commercial holidays. Those ads not being shown on TV is not the end of the world most people today either skip or don't pay attention to most TV ads anyway.

Well they are the far left or alt-left but they are leftists because they are comprised entirely of socialists, communists, anarchasists, progressives and probably a few democrats. It's a political based movement that's violent against any people with right leaning politics. Anway, comparing antifa and the kkk in the political sense is silly.

You're the guy who said the right whines about anything right? Here's an example of liberals whining and having their way. So, nor surprised that you think it's not a big deal.

What I'm most confused by is the fact that it's a 2 minute commercial. Why would it be so long?

The whole ad wasn't shown in 1 go. They showed a couple of the scenarios in the clip at a time.
