Forums - Nintendo Discussion - NBA 2K18 for Switch has same content and modes as PS4 version, runs at 30fps

It's what you'd expect, so I'm not even remotely disappointed.

That's awesome IMO. Totally buying this. Just wish NHL 18 from EA was coming this year for Switch too.

The meltdowns are not as severe as I thought they would be. Maybe EA has gained a little respect due to their commitment to the Switch?

I honestly don't mind 30fps, but I most likely won't get any Sports simulator games... I prefer Sports games with a touch of fantasy.

This isn't EA.

I would have preferred 60FPS over near-PS4 visuals, but as long it's rock-solid 30FPS what we're talking about here, I'm ok.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

In fairness, of the top 10-15 selling IP, NBA 2K and FIFA are the only two that I think are coming out on Switch this year that are new versions of those games (Skyrim is a 5+ year old port). I think EA and 2K Games should be given some credit for providing pretty solid versions of both those IP.

Which other third parties are bringing their biggest or second biggest IP to Switch this year virtually day and date with the other console versions? Pretty much no one else, including all those Japanese devs that apparently are so great to Nintendo. And no I'm not talking about games that are ports of several years old (Skyrim, RE Revelations 2).

Nintendo fans should give EA and 2K Games some credit here, they have both legitimately put their no.1/2 IP on Switch this year and it looks like both games have some solid effort put into them.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and all ... Seems people are pretty split on the whole FPS vs. graphical quality. It can be telling, sometimes xD

People are so quick to say that gameplay and framerate are better than graphics, but don't complain about this port...

It's not hypocritical, just kind of interesting.

Shhh! You're not supposed to notice!

You know why lol. We all know why. If you say it. You'll probably be banned or get 100 comments of complaints😂😂😂

I've mostly seen people giving 2K credit.  But EA has done little in the past to so easily earn praise and trust.

And Sega is bringing Sonic Forces, which is a major project for them.

And Nintendo does have strong allies in Japan but timing seems to have been poor for some of it.  Which is how it goes sometimes.  Though Capcom are just being assholes.

I would have loved it to be 60FPS. On the other hand, I'm very aware how much the Switch lags behind the XBO and PS4 in raw power, so it's a bit expected that many bigger multiplats will only be 30FPS on Switch. The question for me is the resolution. If it's 1080p in docked mode they could have chosen to make it 60FPS 720p instead (and 30FPS in portable mode as I doubt it could run at 60fps then).

Depends whether the framerate is bound by something other than just resolution; there are other possible bottlenecks in the processing pipeline.

Very good to see it feature complete and a good effort. However, I think they made a terrible mistake not making absolutely dead certain it had a physical release same day as other machines. Releasing it digital only and then following up with a physical version will likely have a negative impact on sales. Possibly a devastating impact.

Yeah unfortunately I think the game will flop due to this. Very bad move on 2K's part not to have the physical version day and date with the other consoles. It almost smacks of deliberate sabotage.
