Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Patchter: XBOne X sales exaggerated. 4K TVs are for Morons! Don't fall for Windows Central BS.

XBOne X preorders?

Really good. 42 19.63%

No big deal. 139 64.95%

4K TVs are cool! 33 15.42%

Total:214

Honestly, 'if you are related to donald trump you got a 4K TV' is way more offensive imo.

He is starting to sound like a fanboy

Say what now??? And what is exactly that normal viewing distance and normal screen size???? I have a 50" 4k (no HDR) screen at 11ft viewing distance for the past 2 years and use to have a 45" at 8ft 1080p and I can tell the difference and it's really noticeable and I'm talking pixel... Then again I have more than perfect eye sight but even my wife does... I'm getting a 55" or 65" 4k HDR set soon and at 11ft it'll still be noticeable... And I feel pretty normal... Any of my friends that either play games or watch movies have TVs equal or above 50", heck even my 66 yo mum does.... And the one that don't have 4k are quite noticeable especially closer than 11ft like... I call BS on patchter and you.... It's like people saying speakers with a lower and higher sound frequency spectrum than the audible sound are useless... Those people are just clueless.. It gives depth and sharpness to the sound... Here it's the same even if you can't pixel count pixels from where you seat it does clearly give sharpness to the picture...if not check your eye sight

You can almost only buy large TV's in 4K.

Microsoft is definitely overstating the impact of X. I don't hear much hype at all, honestly.

EDIT: I'd like to get a 4K projector at one point or another, but 4K TVs really are pointless under 60-inches for most. At 1080p -- with glasses on and my vision boosted beyond 20/20 -- I have to be within 9 feet of the screen to see individual pixels on my 120" projected image. Most people sit as far or farther from the television set than I do, and at 10 feet I'm at THX specs for my screen size.

4K does make sense on a large computer monitor, however, as you're right on top of the image. And, of course, those with 90"+ devices are a shoe-in for UHD.

Fastest sales of anything means jack shit.

It's not even the fastest sales though. It's the fastest preorder which of course is microsoft pr because there sure as hell hasn't been any steam behind Xbox all year.

Especially since they used themselves as a reference. Preorders for 360 were surely nothing special and I'm sure they were really bad for X1, so even if true that statement means nothing special at all. If they really had been special they'd have published some numbers.

I btw agree with Pachter except for the morons statement. Yet it's going to take some 5 more years for 4K to become a mass market phenomenon. It doesn't matter if there are only 4K TVs for sale when broadcasts are still low and people are still content with their FullHD TVs.

You can by a phone with 4K...

I dont know about the 4K TV's being for morons but the whole "Most Pre-Orders in the History of....bla bla bla" means nothing to me until we get specific numbers.

As far as i know, Microsoft PR has been a little bit over the top this gen, starting with some useless facts like "One billion Zombies killed in Dead Rising", to flat out lies like "The Best Lineup in the History of Xbox Consoles", to cringe worthy statements when talking about the One X like "No compromise, Terrifying Clarity, Almost Unfair, Pixel Purity, Fear Nothing, etc".

The arguments that Pachter is using this time are valid (imo) and the only way that they could be countered with are with factual numbers, which we dont have. So i guess we have a tie.

Can't disagree with his comment about 4K TVs
