Thats not what I said and you know it. My point was they have a choice to work or not to work. It doesnt mean they wont still be poor.

@Superman4 what are you even talking about?

read back a few posts and you will have your answer

Surely worthy of a fine, at the very least.
Not that the problem will ever go away without a serious reform of how police officers are hired and trained.
Serious reports of misconduct are pretty common, but they rarely seem to result in much of anything.

Oh, and to the people saying he's commenting on how the media portrays cops: come the fuck on!

So, if they still can be poor through working, doesn't that mean then that it's not really a choice?

No, they have the choice not to sell drugs, join a gang, shoot people, commit crimes etc. Most people dont start out with good jobs, it takes time to advance. Putting in the work will generally net you at least a middle class life depending on your other choices.

Commit crimes is pretty broad. Some people resort to theft because they're desperate. Others join certain gangs to have at least some sort of protection. They also shoot each other because poverty and desperation breeds mistrust.

Are you suggesting cops aren't aware of things like Black Lives Matter? Or that cops aren't aware of the news coverage of anything that involves a police officer killing a black man and the news media/public blowing it out of propoprtion as if to say police disproportionately kill black people? Cops are people too, and I'm pretty sure they have the ability to read and listen to the news and outcries of the general public! The cop is clearly being sarcastic. Lets put your brain to the test and see if you are able to figure this out!

People who have graduated from high school, who are married, who don't have kids out of wed-lock with a full time job have a 98% statistical likely hood of taking part in the middle class. There are people in this world that think being poor isn't a choice. I guess those people haven't heard of using their brain in such ways that will net them returns on their labor/investments. This pertains to (but not limited to) people who sit on their couch all day watching television while complaining about the rich getting richer.

I'm suggesting that if a cop is aware of the news reporting and public mood on police brutality he ought to have the common sense not to joke about it.
Not that I would expect what seems to be a stereotypical BLM-hating, (Edit: I didn't realize A_C_E supports BLM, as it was unclear in the context of the post . My bad) police brutality denying ignorant commenter to understand this.
I guess the problem, once again, is the evil media reporting on what people have said and done

He was being sarcastic in a hyperbolic way to a person overreacting to traffic stop. Of course, it's the end of the world.

I'm black.

I was a cop.

I make a great living now (after quitting that job).

My mom and dad are poor.

They've never been in any type of trouble.

They're still married.

Both worked nonstop up until they were in a car accident in about 2013.

They weren't afforded the opportunities that a lot of Americans had. They went to segregated schools as kids and grew up in a time where there was REAL oppression. I'm 40 years old. I haven't been unemployed for a week since I was 18. At one point, I worked two full time jobs (two different police agencies) just to make enough money to pay my bills late and I only have one kid. If it weren't for the doors that opened because I was a cop, I'd still be living in almost poverty.

It's very possible to make good financial decisions, stay out of trouble, work hard your whole life, and still be poor. There's other factors like location and opportunity to consider. I can't just look at other people and say "Just do what I did!" because the opportunities that I had were in extremely short supply. I'm lucky and I thank God everyday for basically winning the lottery.

If you belong to an organization that is world famous for shooting unarmed black people, like the US police force, you don't get to joke about it.

That's like a Taliban joking about only stoning women to death, a skinhead joking that they only kill Jews, or a Tutsi joking that they only kill Hutus.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
