Forums - Gaming Discussion - Persona 5 Voted the Best Game of All Time by the Famitsu Readership; PS2 Voted Best Platform

Splatoon on number 3 ? Dangaroopa V3 on number 7?

Well... I believe that the age group that correspond to the higher % explains it all. People voted in games that are still fresh in their memories

Still... it feels a bit odd that there´s no Pokemon game in the top 30

I love Persona 5, but good lord, were the voters prisoners of the moment, with Splatoon and Nier: Automata right up there next to it. I can't dispute the quality of those games, but I also don't think I've had long enough to figure out where t hey would rank when compared to the older classics, which I have played multiple times and have developed a deeper familiarity with, though it is nice to see a readership that's not entirely consumed with nostalgia.

Also, wow at that Danganropa 3 ranking!

Wait a sec ...

*pukes*

Oh ... if only they were worshipping Zero Escape instead of Ace Attorney - Weeb Edition :(

Yeah. Its really disencouraging to see that Danaganronpa is the bigger franchise to Chunsoft rather than Zero Escape.Dont get me wrong, Danganronpa is great, but Zero Escape is simply superior.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Man, will people hate me if I think that neither Zelda Breath of the Wild or Persona 5 can compete against the likes of Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us or more recently The Witcher 3?

They are all 95+ games in my book. But if I could only save one game for the future generations, it wouldn't be neither Zelda or Persona. Sorry.

I'm just happy seeing nier getting some love, but I don't entirely agree with the list.

Sega at #1 makes sense though...we're finally getting OCs in Sonic after all.

Someone somewhere is very triggered by this comment

And not a single non-Japanese game on there, either. I know Japan's always been a very closed society, but you'd think they'd be at least a bit more open minded these days.

Wow, didn't think Playstation would dominate a Japanese list so thoroughly.

lol 4 of the top 5 released in the past 5 years and 48% of the list released in the last 7 years?

Recency bias is a very real thing lol... It's why when composing lists like this it's best to exclude games released over the previous decade or so. Of course, it's also better to only ask those people who are actually familiar with games dating back throughout the history of the industry as well, but that's not exactly realistic lol

A Japanese person I knew in college told me that he believes his country is about as xenophobic and culturally elitist as any you'll find. It just seems weird to me as every Japanese person I've met has been exceedingly kind and friendly.

I suppose a couple thousand years of isolation on an island chain, plus the complete intentional isolation under the Tokugawa Shogunate for centuries, had a lasting impact.
