Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Japanese losing interest in Switch due to shortage.

I never knew people would get so emotional over this issue.

No, I'm not talking about Japanese gamers, I'm talking about this thread.

Anyway, it has to be a concern for Nintendo. Many of these people are just trying to communicate their dissatisfaction to Nintendo and will return as customers in the future. Others might not. One of the cardinal rules of business is that some lost sales won't come back.

And yet it has sold 1.5 million units in japan to this day (less than 6 months)... lol

34 years playing games.

Just knew there would be people getting emotional about this in the thread smh

But, but, ... Nintendo artificially creates this shortages to INCREASE demand!

Clearly they do. The PS4 is able to sell twice to 3 times as many units per week, Nintendo isnt able to produce a 3rd of what Sony can on a regular basis? I dont see PS4 units being sold out everywhere which means they are producing even more than what they are selling.

They are either creating the shortage on purpose or thought the console would flop and only invested enough to make a small ROI. They should be able to crank out 2-300K units per week by now.

Very interesting. Let's hope Nintendo delivers what they promised: bigger shipments starting on fall. So far they have fulfilled their promises of sending more Switches in July and August.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

They expected it to sell 10m first year, which it would (will) regardless of stock issues... that's not "flopping", especially for a console's first year, which is usually a slow one. But yes, they admited they underestimated demand and tried everything they could to get things sorted out. Even paid more to ship extra units faster via airplanes.

By the way, you're looking at global pre-Splatoon numbers on VGC front page. It's known that they started shipping more after Splatoon, and especially in August, so as soon ad VGC uptades those numbers, they will start to look better. Even then, they still have to meet demand, but they have promised to start shipping more this fall, so things might get even better.

I don't get it. I've been in two countries in Europe recently and they had switch available like in supermarket. Is it specific to Japan?

OFC, because shipping what you have in stock is so mainstream, let's just hold these units so we can sell later.... Because why not? We don't need money and userbase increase for software purchases, let's just tease these morons!

never understood people lilke you- you come onto a "Switch is sold out" frustration thread (essentially) to mention that you have a Switch, don't like it, and are going to get rid of it.

Well congratulations pal- do you want an award?

talk about a waste of a post. And just because your local stores have Switches in stock is sort of irrelevant and doesn't speak for Europe as a whole (where some territories are somewhat low on inventory, especially around big cities). We don't know where you live, what country, what city, whatever, and the concept that whatever small area you're in summarizes a continent of 800 million is just silly.

There are territories in Europe that are selling a lot of Switches (especially like France and Germany, some of the largest European countries), and the concept that Nintendo can just pick and choose to abandon spots in Europe is silly. They either support the stores in the continent as a whole or basically don't do it at all. That should be obvious.

Congratz on having a Switch and not liking it, but the only pertinent reason for you to mention that on this topic would be if you plan to send your system to Japan to help inventory over there pal

what the hell is your problem dude? the topic is about people losing interest due to shortages and I commented that Nintendo did a poor job with allocating the hardware.

if you disagree with my opinion that's perfectly fine, but if you're trying to be an ass just because you don't like what I said, then you can f* right off

ps: i'm not your "pal"

The problem is that you just can't say that Nintendo is overshipping in Europe, just because you see Switchs in some store near you. Your anecdoctal evidence can't determine anything in a continental scale.

And yes, your review about the switch is pointless.

Stealth bait posts like yours is now a norm in this site and always derail threads about the Switch. It feels like you're all bothered about its success.

Mnementh, I know you are parodying. Don't worry ;).

You sure about that? I saw alot of articles tallking about 3DS shortages. It doesn't matter if they main products or not, they're perfect examples of nintendo doing that. Why wouldn't nintendo use that practice with their consoles as well.

Yes I am sure, most important is that 3DS didn't had any stock issues on launch and in 1st year, while some revision had some stock issues in some point, but that's not really strange because 3DS had 6 revision. Of Course It does matter, Amiibo and NES/SNES Mini are not main products for Nintendo and they are not priority for them and they dont care about them like they care about DS/Wii/WiiU/3DS/Switch which are priority for them of course, Nintendo even admitted that NES Mini from start was intended to be just holiday console, same can be expect for SNES Mini. At end like I wrote, If we talk about their main products, last few generation they had shortages only with Wii and Switch, and both were selling better than was expected.

If I recall correctly, there were no supply issues with 3DS; it was actually a DEMAND issue. After the pricecut, the sales took off without a hitch.

What a dream situation to be in it: not being able to keep up with the demand of a product only you can produce.
And the same goes to SNES Classic as well, and NES Classic. What a victory.
