Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Japanese losing interest in Switch due to shortage.

Sounds like they're just bitter that they can't get one.

Let's say that nintendo can produce 5 million switches per month and that's their max production ability. I'm saying that they're taking 2 million switches from each month to store in a warehouse to create a "shortage" while the 3 million from each month sell out.

Bad tactic there. The userbase is a king now, the faster u build it the better. There is a reason why PS3 struggled to catch up with 360, even if it outsold it since day1.

There was more to that especially on the bottom.

They are still producing the same amount whether they sell throughout the year naturally or saving some for the holidays. They can only produce so many a year either way. What matters is if they sell what they produce. I'm sure they are trying to increase the maxium limits of what they can produce while they're withholding products that are sitting in a warehouse for later.

Right! They can always buy one overseas.

After Wii U failed where they overproduced and overshiped Wii U units, and because that later they didnt could have Wii U price cut if they didnt want to selling it at huge loss, of course they will be more cautious with their predictions. If we talk about their main products, last few generation they had shortages only with Wii and Switch, and both were selling better than was expected.

They had repeated shortages with the variations of 3DS , amiibos and mini NES/NES classic.

3DS rarely had shortages, and if you have 6 revisions of course that can be some shortages of some revision, Amiibos and Mini NES/SNES are not main products of Nintendo.

Ay, some are even mad in this thread. Will it be about Switch success eclipsing other consoles?

Eager guys on social media. Well, that's not too surprising.

They'll be back, anyway, right after they can enter to a store and just pick up one easily.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Hmm, I can understand that logic (sort of), for some people if they can't get it they'll just end up spending their money on something else. But there will be others that can wait and do so. I am not one of those people really If I couldn't find something, I'd usually just end up getting something else.

There isn't an alternative to the Switch so Big N is safe for now. I still have a hard time believing these stories, is it really impossible to ramp up production after six months?
