I don't get it. I've been in two countries in Europe recently and they had switch available like in supermarket. Is it specific to Japan?

Japan, US, Canada still seem starved for stock. Parts of Europe and Australia, it seems like it's much easier to find a Switch.

Thanks. I'll not say that in Europe there are loads of switches also because I do care about it. But in recent occasions I went to place like supermarkets there they were in a small pile waiting for customer. I guess statistically it means there are probably others around waiting for owners.

It is strange that mismatch on offer and demand.

I never knew people would get so emotional over this issue.

No, I'm not talking about Japanese gamers, I'm talking about this thread.

Anyway, it has to be a concern for Nintendo. Many of these people are just trying to communicate their dissatisfaction to Nintendo and will return as customers in the future. Others might not. One of the cardinal rules of business is that some lost sales won't come back.

We have to go back and ask them why they want to buy the Switch?

Big franchises such as a New Monster Hunter, Pokemon and Animal Crossing isn't on the Switch yet.

In years time or whenever supply fully meets demand they'll come back and buy one. I don't blame them. I would queue up every week just to enter a lottery to won a console.

You do realize that those people don't win a console but win the chance to buy the console, do you? Or do you mean you would buy a console every week?

I didn't mean to say what I said.  I meant to say I wouldn't queue up.

Like if ps4 was constrained like that,  fuck that I'd just play my ps3 until it's in stock and easily bought.

I'd be super pissed off though.

I don't really understand this.. I mean, if you want something, you want it regardless of the circumstances typically, don't you? Do the games you wanted to play on Switch suddenly not interest you anymore, just because you may have to wait longer to get it? And like, when the console is finally readily available, does that mean they're just gonna sit it out now and not get one? What kind of sense does that make? Just occupy your time with something else and play other games on other consoles until you can get a Switch.. I guess I can see it losing some of its luster due to it no longer being the "fresh new thing," but at the end of the day, it's the same console with the same games no matter when you finally get one..

I mean, I had something of a similar situaion with the NES classic but that was primarily because of the SNES coming out to take its place, not to mention the fact that Nintendo completely cut off supply of the thing and the only way I can get one from now on is if I spend like 5x the cost of what it's actually worth, which I'm not doing.

Have a hard time believing this is anywhere close to a widespread problem.

But, but, ... Nintendo artificially creates this shortages to INCREASE demand!

Clearly they do. The PS4 is able to sell twice to 3 times as many units per week, Nintendo isnt able to produce a 3rd of what Sony can on a regular basis? I dont see PS4 units being sold out everywhere which means they are producing even more than what they are selling.

They are either creating the shortage on purpose or thought the console would flop and only invested enough to make a small ROI. They should be able to crank out 2-300K units per week by now.

You are serious!? Why they would make Nintendo artificially creates this shortages of their main product, where they dont sell only console but games for that console, more consoles sold means more games sold. Remember, Switch has shortages 6 months after launch and son holiday season is coming. Comparison with PS4 is not good comparison, PS4 is almost 4 years in market while Switch, is only 6 months, and consoles usually have stock problems at launch and in 1st year, not few years after launch. Its much harder to increase production than maintain current scale production.

Its neither, offcourse they never thouth that Switch will flop (lol, any company don't think their product will flop, in that case they wouldnt release product on first place), but after Wii U flop where they overproduced Wii U units and later they couldnt have price cut because of that, they become more cautious with things like that and Switch is selling better than they expected (remember Switch had better start of sales than Wii despite its released outside holiday season), but they have hard time increasing production, we had reports that on market there is shortage of memory parts Nintendo is using for Switch and that Nintendo is basically battling with Apple for some parts.

In any case, Nintendo said they will further increase production from fall and it seems they shipped more units in late July and August compared to May and June.

The problem is that you just can't say that Nintendo is overshipping in Europe, just because you see Switchs in some store near you. Your anecdoctal e can't determine anything in a continental scale.

And yes, your review about the switch is pointless.

Stealth bait posts like yours is now a norm in this site and always derail threads about the Switch. It feels like you're all bothered about its success.

Mnementh, I know you are parodying. Don't worry ;).

Lol... i suspect you're doing some projection here about feelings.

So unless i'm sucking some company's dick, it must mean somehow i'm bothered by it? That's a good one.

I gave my honest opinion about their distribution, which for as anecdotal as it might seem to you, it's a bit more widespread when not only I can find plenty of units available in local shops, but also ordering online from other retailers.

Now when I see whining about people not being able to buy it for several months, then it must mean they are undershipping in some places and overshipping in other places.

And honestly, I think I must of mentioned having one since lauch just to prevent your kind of reactions that somehow I have something against the toy itself.

So yeah... your review of my post is itself, ironically, pointless

Taking words out my mouth... Classy

By no means there's a problem in not feeling satisfied with your Switch purchase.

But we have specific threads where you can post your impressions about the console. You should have  know better considering how long you have been here. There's no need to go off topic.
