Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch native voice chat discovered in Splatoon 2.

A Neogaf member found out while playing Splatoon 2 in LAN mode (using a wireless router) that it had native voice chat support. And native as in, no need for APP or adapter. Just had a mic hooked on the headphone jack of the Switch and good ol normal voice chat happened. Seems that the Switch did indeed had enough Pikmins for a standar voice chat implementation, OBVIOUSLY. Guess Nintendo decided to Nintendo the feature.

I wonder if they're locking the feature behind the online paywall...

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Huh, I thought it was only for local Salmon Run or something? This is news to me.

They really should have done just standard voice chat rather than the complicated way of their phone app.

So, does it only worked undocked? Or can you somehow use it docked?

Wow now that is a surprise to hear =p reminds me of the Wii days ... Didn't Nintendo have the software/codecs installed in the OS, only they didn't end up enabling them? That was a choice to not have to pay royalties, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe this is the same?

That would be pretty awful, considering both PS4 and XB1 offer party chat, let alone just simple voice chat, completely free of charge.

God damn it Nintendo.
