To be fair, Sony sold 13.5 million consoles by the end of October 2014, Nintendo is expecting to sell 12.74 mil by March of 2018. 

That's not that bad considering small third party support, but yeah this year definitely goes to Sony!

Yeah. In general anyone thinking it could would be fooling themselves. Don't most consoles have their most successful year on their 3rd - 4th year?

The PS4 never ceases to amaze me in sales....wow. Peak year indeed! And man I hope the XB1X gives the XB brand a surge of life geesh smh. Switch....I mean shortages.....that is obvious......I might be on point with my prediction of the PS4 passing the 3DS by the end of this year if sales continue at this pace or pick up even more!

And look at the XB1 being ahead of the Wii U AND PS3 in Japan! Way to go MS lol!

Outstanding year for Playstation, it's so nice waking up and having it feel like the good old days with Sony at the top.

Switch sales are impressive despite shortages as well, I'm blown away by how successful the Switch is performing, I've never really been impressed with the concept or hardware so to see it pull 4.6 in the first six months I'm really impressed by it and major props to Nintendo

Xbox is dire though, desperately awaiting the X it would seem, troubling however it's at that stage in June and with few big releases between this point and the X touchdown gonna be a hard year.

I was gonna holy shit too. Mine was hoooolyyyy shit! Instead, I'll quote from a piece of cinema that starred one of our most revered actors, the late Orson Welles........Transformers: The Movie. "Their defenses are broken! Let the slaughter begin!" I know some people miss the closely contested days of gen 7, but I enjoy a good thrashing.

Holy shit those ps4 numbers. It's coming fast to overtake the 3DS and become #1!
