Forums - Nintendo Discussion - (Update) The difference between the Wii U and Switch libraries after 10 months on the market.

Couldn't agree more, Nintendo has done a great job with the Switch's library so far. Of course, there could be greater improvements (particularly on the third party side of things), but it could be waaaaaay worse xD

Switch gets the following games within eight months of launch.

A massive open world Zelda game.

A Mario Kart Game

An Online Third Person Shooter

A huge ambitious Mario game in the vien of Galaxy/Sunshine

A successful crossover game with Ubisoft.

Meanwhile what did the Wii U have at this point? New Super Mario Bros U, which many fans thought was paint by numbers, and a port of a MH game that was already on two other systems.

It's like Nintendo is hitting all the right notes with their software library for the Switch right out of the gate. Most of these games have huge potential to move units.

To be far, the Zelda game was made originally for the Wii U and had been planned for so long.  Also the Mario Kart game was just a port of the Wii U game so it's not like they had to start from scratch and take a longer time.  So Nintendo hitting all the right notes meant they had to skimp out on their previous gen and also take from their previous gen.

And im not going to call the Mario x Rabbit game a sucessful one just yet.  Granted it most likely will, but at least wait til its released to see some results before calling it.

Not saying the Switch library isn't bad by all means, it just doesn't quite add up to me with how you're comparing it to the Wii U.

Third parties were meant to carry the Wii U at launch, First party carries the Switch.

Shock of all shocks the 1st party is actually functional.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

WiiU had Call of Duty, Darksiders, Mass Effect 3, Splinter Cell and some other stuff in that window. And MH3U rocked.

But yeah, for me the Switch library has subjective a better value. Especially since you left out Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

That is a horrible comparison. I was thinking you'd have a list of actual games or at least a full summary. Not a few cherry picked titles off the top of your head.

It is much better. Well, that is why it is selling better.
Also, it is a much more impressive piece of tech,in my opinion at least.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

What happens when you withheld games because your console bombed. The 2 highest rated, biggest hames are also on the Wii U though. Outside Arms, Splatoon 2 and M&R.....not much there. At least Wii U also had a bunch of big AAA ports.....i mean people are excited for Skyrim...whats the difference

- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not a port

- Zelda came out at the same time as the Wii U version and has a higher resolution and better frame rate

- You can play Switch games on the go, but you can't play Wii games on the go with your Wii U. The small screen makes the games look much better as well.

So no, you shouldn't include the Wii's library as part of the Wii U's launch.

Just pointing out that Wii games do work on the WiiU in "off TV mode". The controller even has a built-in sensor bar.

That's not going to do much for me on the train though. Also that 480p... Yuck!

So outside of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Sonic Mania and Shovel Knight there's nothing to play? Right...

Tell me, what must-have games did the PS4 and Xbox One have 6 months after launch?

His point was that Nintendo withheld Wii U games to be ported to the Switch.

The Wii U literally was abandoned years before the Switch released.

There were heavy hitters releasing for the PS3 when the PS4 came out.
