Well we dont know for how long Nintendo is working on VR or when we could see it, also It doesn't mean that we will 100% see it on Switch, but it means that are good chances that we will see some kind of VR addon for Switch platform in one point.

an add on could be possible yeah, now that I think about it. Though I think the more pressing concern would be whether the Switch has teh power for any type of VR that is substantial enough. Even PSVR, which is great, is not exactly top tier even now.  Lets see how this plays out, but I think it will be more for whatever comes after Switch, or even if Switch follows a mobile esque refresh system (stronger SKUS over its lifetime).

If you think about Switch already has some things that could work for VR, like Joy Con controllers, and I am pretty sure Nintendo has some interesting VR/AR patents (like we already saw). Also Nintendo could later easily release Switch with 1080p screen that would be more subtle for VR, similar like phones are using.

I don't know, I just can't imagine VR with 720p on a LCD Screen. Image quality would be absolutely horrible.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Would it really be in Nintendo's spirit to release another version of the Switch just for VR, completely shutting out everyone who bought the old version?

Another version of Switch wouldn't be just for VR, I think we could have Switch Pro/XL with 1080p screen that could play in games same in docked and handheld mode, in any case. Thats also a possibility, maybe we don't need another Switch version for VR addon, Nintendo definitely has some interesting VR patents and plans.

old code... they changed their mind as soon as they heard PS and Xbox were doing it

Switch!!!

VR in 720p on a screen that's way bigger than PSVR powered by a device way weaker than the PS4. This is going to be virtual boy 2.0.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

So knowing Nintendo, it would look like this?

Internets won, close the internets.

So much nonsense over two innocuous bools.

Sorry to shit on your dreams but it's a check to see if the connected Android device being used for online (nintendo switch online app) is in vr mode or not.

Hence why it's part of the IPC interface code base.

They several times said they are "looking at VR" and that they will be there when VR is ready.

Also this is from february.
