Eh I don't think this was ever really the case.

Even in the early 90s when I used to read EGM, a score of "6" was dissapointing and even a 7 to 8 for a highly hyped game was considered poor depending on context.

I can't find my old old ones (1993-ish), but my EGMs circa 1998-2000 insisted that 5 was "average." GamePro's visual rankings also seemed to suggest that a 3/5 was an "okay" and a 2.5/5 was "meh."

I remember for me, I wouldn't even rent a game if it was 6/10. That was a non-starter. "Good games" started at basically 8/10 .... maaaaaaybe 7.5 if you pushed it. Game ratings have always been like that.

There are plenty people on the left that dislike Lisa Sarsour.  Anyway the right had way to much of a hissy fit over the march because pretty much like all marches at the end of the day it pretty much acomplished nothing.  MLK Jrs planned poors people march on Washington probably would have acomplished something but its one of the main reasons he was assasinated.  Also I'm talking about real snake oil sales people like Alex Jones and right wing religious nutters that sell fake remedies at inflated prices.

And there's plenty of people on the right who dislike the KKK. The difference is that Linda Sarsour actually gets supported by the mainstream media and the left in general. In fact, she's hailed as a hero. She is the co-chair to the Women's March as well. You should read about the leaders of that march - you wouldn't support them if you did. I wish I kept that article at hand.

Also, I don't see how Linda Sarsour is any different from Alex Jones. She sells a load of nonsense that the mainstream media and the left is more than willing to buy.

I think you are forgetting that most atheist either lean left or are on the left and none of them are fans Sarsour or any other person that is radically religious.  Also why are keep bringing up the march like I said before most marches end up acomplishing absolutetly nothing that is some right wing mentally right there making a big deal out of something that when it was over wasn't a big deal.

I am curious as to the effect Movie Pass has on the industry. They recently dropped the price to $10/month to see a movie a day at the cinema. Read they got around 200,000 new customers with this aggressive move and it created a lot of buzz. We should know better in coming months how much it catches on and changes things in the US.

Aw man, deals like this make me wish I was into movies! THat's such a sweeeeet deal!

I plan on checking it out in coming months.  Big thing is many movies I pass on I would see now under this deal because it doesn't cost anymore to give them a shot.

War of the planet of the apes and Valerian should have waited a bit and not released when they did.

By releasing right next to Dunkirk and Spider-Man, all four movies took smaller hauls than they might have, had they been spaced properly.

In some ways 20 years.  After tomorrow when official numbers come in The Hitmans Bodyguard could drop below 10 million. Many blame the recent boxing match,  but even without the fight this weekend was going to be bad. Oh yes,  next weekend is supposed to be even smaller.

Hitman's Bodyguard did slightly better than estimates, rather than slightly worse, to remain over 10 million.
Birth of the Dragon outperformed the Mayweather-McGregor fight.
And Despicable Me 3 and The Dark Tower finished ahead of Wonder Woman.

All in all, it was a weekend with no real major releases, and the blockbusters that are currently showing are already too deep into their runs to prop up the rest of the industry.  This weekend will indeed be bleak as it will be the first Labor Day Weekend in 25 years without a major release of over 1,000 theaters.

Right winger? I guess if you have to resort to name calling you have no legitimate response.

Also I was reffering more to things they people themselves are doing. It distracts from their product. See Johnney Depp as a good recent example.

They have every right to spout off stupid shit but I just wish they wouldn't because it distracts from the product. Michael Jordan had/has it right. He was once asked why he does not make political statements and his response was "Republicans buy shoes too"

Well its right wingers for the most part that try to make everything political.  Even if entertainers make policital  statements once in while movies for the most part aren't political and politics have nothing to do with how well a movie does at the box office.

Actually the conservatives who are actors tend to keep their mouths shut. And I was simply point out what I see as 1 of many contributing factors to the BO decline.

I follow the BO office each week. This pattern began last fall before the election when the political rhetoric was at its highest and has not run through.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Isn't August always known as a dud for movies? Some of the June and July movies should have moved to August it was completely free.

Movie genres have nothing to do with people not going to the theaters. People simply don't want to waste money on a crappy movie. Tickets are getting expensive and people want to spend it on something safe or on something they know it will interest them which is Disney or Marvel movies.

Late August/early September is generally slow, though sometimes there is a lower budget type movie that takes advantage and makes some hay during that period with less competetion.

Planet of the Apes is a movie that should've moved back into August, it is a legit good movie that probably did not make the type of money it should have because it came out in the overly busy July period. I think Ghost In the Shell would've done far better in August too.

Agreed too with higher ticket prices, people are not willing to roll the dice as much on movies they're not as sure about. I think maybe movie theaters may want to think about discount pricing on certain types of movies. Not every movie needs to be a $12 ticket IMO.

The left is a huge fan of Islam, atheist or not. Not sure why you ignore that fact. There's no point in trying to reason with the hard leftists - we've seen that they will deny science if it fits their agenda.

Well surprising, this week's numbers came out and last weeks holdovers dropped and or gained from last week. Movie goers are dying to see anything and are making due.

It's still the worst Labour Day week-end in 17 years. I guess it's been weeks since there's been any big release and people are getting desperate.
