Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fire Emblem Warriors lets you play at 60 FPS in exchange for lower resolution

How would that work on undocked?

I imagine that the option is only available when docked ... (Based off of DF's analysis on the E3 demo the game ran at a dynamic resolution between 900p-1080p and still had dips under 30FPS.)

This isn't a 3DS game, the New 3DS version will be a massively downgraded port of the Switch version with like 1/10th the amount of characters on screen, just like Hyrule Warriors.

Maybe 720p/30fps vs 540p/60fps?

Ok I didn't know 3DS version of hyrule warriors was heavily downgraded

Massively so.

Exactly what i wanted, awesome.

That's pretty nice, the more options the better, speaking of options how about more characters that are not from awakening/fates or famous because of smash?

Oh! That's interesting!
What was Hyrule Warriors? Because I didn't really mind that one. A couple issues then and there.

These games are all sinfully ugly and bad... I wish Nintendo was more careful in who they lent their IPs to... At least Ubisoft did a fantastic job with the Mario franchise.

The Switch cant be that underpowered to the point where it cant run a 3DS game in 1080 60fps, or is it

Maybe 720p/30fps vs 540p/60fps?

Nah, it's probably just the single 720p/60 fps

Remember, the screen only being 720p doesn't mean that there is a loss in power (infact, I find framerate smoother in undocked for most games).

Games are only 720p because the screen itself is 720p.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Actually the Switch does lose a lot of power when undocked. It's GPU runs at 307MHz when portable but 768MHz when docked.

Good to hear there's an option for better performance in exchange for lower resolution. I honestly have never played a Dynasty Warriors game. This may be my first one (even though it's a spin-off).

We really should invent a new term for 60fps on consoles. There also should be a law against calling a game mode 60fps when it's not stable.
My very unbold prediction is that the 60fps mode will be very far from stable. Lowering the resolution will not fix the stutter coming from the potato CPU.

I know I should be glad for console developers providing more options but history tells me that those options are only made available when the developer knows that the game is almost unplayable in the 30fps mode.
