Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Crackdown 3 Should Have Been Announced Later, Microsoft States

How do you know that? They could have very well planned it to release this year but about 3 weeks ago realized they needed more time.

Oh please....you think it's a coincidence that what would have been one of their only exclusives this holiday only got like a minute and change flash and dash at E3? Really, if it had released this year, it would have been THE premier exlusive they had on their side, cus outside of that there's just Forza as a AAA exclusive, and given that those release bianually, and the very specific market for sim racers, Crackdown would have been their most pushed/marketed title easily. So the fact that they practically glossed over it at the biggest event in gaming, is incredibly telling. That's just a fact. You don't have to read very deeply between the lines to figure that out. They knew this game was in rocky waters, and simply chose to dance around the fact for a while, so everyone would believe there was a major Xbox One X launch title to look forward to.

They knew damn well that the only way it would launch this year was in shambles.

Maybe they should have announced the game when they were sure it was ready. Or maybe something went horribly wrong in the development process that they are pretending never happened.

Its not unusual for games to be announced before development has really started.

But how are they going to sell their consoles if they cannot present interesting software to go with it ? :O

Well let's see.... how about they make interesting new ips unless the issue is that they cannot.

It is difficult to make new Ip's when their biggest studios are confined to a single franchise, with some Rare exceptions. No pun intended

Well no shit sherlock...

So we have lovely Phill sling shit on Sony for announcing games to early then they postponing their games (besides doing that since ever on early announcements) to now someone else admitting it.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I heard rumors its the destructability in multiplayer thats one of the bigger issues.
That and some graphics touch ups.

Still all the crap about the power of the cloud.
And look what it brings? something that ll only enhance the multiplayer part, and its 1 game, and its been in developement hell because of it? It all seems like a waste of effort, the destructability isnt that cool or game enhanceing. It would be better to keep it local, and limit it and have it in single player too.

Sony also has this habit of announcing games 2-3 years before release. 7 years in TLG's case.

Yeah... and how many other games did sonys first party give you last gen to held us all over? Many Japanese devs last gen were having issues making the transition to next gen from the ps2 to ps3 in aaa games. Funny enough it's not the first time Microsofts development.

Sony still does it and has every year with PS4.

The problem  is that they cannot make ips on level with the competiton. They should've never hired Phil if they didn't want him spilling the developmental beans.

Exhibit a:

In part is it about having an answer to Uncharted 4? The comparison between the last Tomb Raider and Uncharted has been made.

Phil Spencer: Totally. I'm a big fan of Uncharted and I wish we had an action adventure game of that ilk. We've started some, and we've looked at them. But we don't have one today of that quality. This is an opportunity.

People push me as the content guy, shouldn't it all be about the content you're building? I want to own all of the hits on our platform. Well, not all of them - that's too much. But I want to have a stable of hits on our platform that we own. Absolutely. That's fundamental to us having a successful platform. When a unique opportunity comes up, I've got to go look at that. And this was a unique opportunity.

This wasnt that though, its not like the new Metroid, where all you saw was a logo.

When it was announced it had already been abit in developement, since they had trailers ready for it.

Crackdown has probably seen 5years of developement, when it releases.

That is why all the suits must be more level headed if they are going to throw some jabs here and there.

Aaaron Greenberg had to eat some crow when they signed the deal with Taco Bell, and he talked shit about Sony when they did the same.

Life is a Boomerang people!
