Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Anger Mounting Over SNES Classic Pre-Orders

I have 2 preordered.

First come first serve, survival of the fittest, dog eat dog, etc.

It's an entertainment system actually a super entertainment system and its providing plenty entertainment without ever seeing one :) Nintendo delivers entertainment like a pro. Keep on trolling those millennials, wah wah I want it so I must have it first, then sell it on Ebay... More temper tantrum videos please.

Anyway it pays to be a loyal devotee to physical games. I only needed to walk into my local shop yesterday, "already reserved one for you in case you want one, I'll give you a call if anything should go wrong but consider it done" Glorious physical games master race, poor online ordering plebs :)

Hey come on people. I've heard others argue on this site that this is exactly the same as Sony or Microsoft putting out a limited edition of their consoles! It's totally the same as that, I mean if you don't get a special edition PS4, you can always buy the readily available regular edition, and with the SNES classic, if you can't get one of those you could always buy.... a Wii U, and most of the roms on the virtual console, or nothing at all. It's really like the exact same thing guys!

Wow does anybody actually understand economics or are you too lost in the Mushroom Kingdom?
Supply chains can't magically produce millions more Super Nintendos just cuz fanboys whine. There are tonnes of logistics involved in this. Add to that - NINTENDO HAS A HIT SYSTEM CALLED THE SWITCH - heard of it?
The fact that nintendo has increased the supply of Super Nintendos AND Switches for the holiday season is impressive.
Thanks Nintendo! You da best

As many have stated(including Jim Sterling himself), these overpriced ROM plug-n-plays exist only to have the name Nintendo in peoples mouths. They don't intend to please their consumers with these hunks of cheap plastic, they want us talking about them and more importantly - talking about Nintendo Switch and 2DSXL.

Are these minutes from the SNES classic development meetings?

No one really has a problem with the number of SNES classics they had available for preorder or launch. They have a problem over how the preorders were done. They have a problem over how Nintendo has already announced an expiry date to when they will stop making them, which means they have no interest in meeting demand. Do you think anyone would really have a huge problem with the supply issues of the NES classic if Nintendo announced they would keep producing them until demand was met, and stores across the world saw regular shipments every few weeks even to this day? Do you think anyone would really have a problem with the launch of the SNES classic if they were confident they would actually get one eventually?

I'll give you a hint. No one is worried they're never going to be able to get their hands on a Switch eventually, are they?

https://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/new-2ds-xl-tops-japan-s-hardware-charts-after-30-fall-in-switch-sales/0184975  - This was back in July and if you look at any retailer online, the thing is easily availible.

When Nintendo wants to produce a lot of a thing, they can do it.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

SNES games still sell for a boatload these days. I guess I can rest assured that the existence of the SNES Classic don't devalue my collection.

To be fair, I don't think you can compare producing a game cartridge to an actual system.

Originality...

How many units do we expect Nintendo to produce ahead of time?
If they made ten million units for preorder that would be over half a billion USD in inventory.
There are not many companies in the world that could handle the warehouses / capital required to store all of that.
