Not in the least surprising, the trailer made it look awful, and Western remakes of Asian media generally tend to be crap.

Still, a shame. I loved the Japanese live action films.

They truly fucked up this remake. Neither Light or L look like their anime counterparts, especially L.

Not surprising. When directors/writers/producers set off to make their own version of an established frachise, things always end in disaster.

No one cares about your crappy carriers. The franchise in the name wasn't created by you, stop trying to apropriate yourselves and make some pos no one wants to watch. Keep true to the source material and you will look much better.

Kinda knew from the trailer that this was trash. Trailer of Ryuk trying to convince Light to use the note. Complete travesty of the original work.

William Dafoe as Ryuk was the only thing right with the movie.

There's nothing wrong with "making your own"  version of something as long as there is enough talent to realize it.

OP : Very weird this was even made. Kind of expected it to be crap. Death Note already isn't the best source material as it is.

Hollywood strikes again!! xD What's the next manga/anime adaption they'll fck up next? Find out!

We never needed an all asian cast or whatever. Just wish Light at least represented himself.

He's meant to be an attractive, smart, and outstanding person. Instead he looks like that one dude in class who has a 1.3 GPA and has been arrested twice in the semester.

Oh well. Guess I'll avoid it like Evolutions to not be disappointed

I remember the dude behind this saying they wanted to make it darker or deeper and well look how that turned out lol. You CANNOT one up original content when it's already being praised a masterpiece.

As Pokoko so eloquenrly put it, this needed more Erika Toda

Well, it did look like trash.
I'm kinda likely to watch it for the cringe though.
