Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games that you liked but dragged on for too long.

I find that this seems to be happening to me more often since i've grown up. There are just some games that I feel that are fatiguing due to their length despite them being fun and solid games. This is why I feel like i've been drawn to more linear games nowadays because I just want to experience a game with its story, world, atmosphere and gameplay and just move onto something else. The last game I played like this was MGSV which I really liked but it just dragged on for too long, not to mention it was a bit repetitive at certain parts. Am I the only one that feels this way.

The witcher 3 for me. I should have focused more on the story, by the end I didn't care at all about the story anymore due to all the padded on busy work. Loot/inventory management, repetitive events, locations and enemies, it all started to drag. Before that GTA5. I enjoyed the story mode better in GTA4. GTA5 lost its welcome in the 3rd act. Also linear games can drag on too long, Rise of the tombraider for example and Uncharted 4 the last couple of levels were just a lot of boring gun fights.

It's not that the length is a problem, I didn't have any issues with Far Cry 4 or Fallout 4 (finished all endings, while building huge settlements) nor Zelda (170 hours) or Horizon Zero Dawn (80 hours) Some games remain interesting longer than others.

I still have MGS5 in my backlog, bought day 1, unopened :/

.hack series

They split up a real cool game concept into way too many bits to try to make a long series.

...

Bravely Default. I liked the game for its gameplay, visuals and music but the story is lame and after you reach chapter 5 it becomes a repetitive chore ugh.

Lol it's as if this thread was made specifically for me at this moment. I just finished tales of symphonia yesterday and while I was liking the game at first I did feel like it just dragged on for too long. The combat system was interesting at first but after 800+ encounters and lots of dialogue things turned tedious so I kinda had force myself to finish it.

Lost in Shadow on Wii. I love the game. It just runs a bit long for a game like that.

Super Mario Galaxy 2. Was a great game.... but the level design was nowhere near as imaginative as Super Mario Galaxy... which I consider a masterpiece. Galaxy 2 kinda just felt like a DLC pack to the original game that was extended to be a full release game. Maybe it's just that I played this game like a week after I did a 100 percent completion run of Galaxy 1.

Zelda: Twilight Princess, it really drags on especially in the beginning.
