What the hell is going on? I live in Phoenix and the eclipse is supposed to peak at 1030 am. I looked outside and the sky is perfectly normal. Zero obscuration of the sun by the moon. WTF?

It's not zero - it's about 50% as I write this, but it will still seem sunny. Your maximum coverage was 70%. Get a piece of paper, put a small hole in it, and then project through to another piece of paper. You should see the crescent. Here's what it should be looking like live where you are now...

Yeah it's still fairly sunny. Might as well be no eclipse on Pheonix. Glad I didn't buy any glasses for this.

Glasses would have been good, you would have seen what is there on the link. But it's cheaper and easier to punch a hole in a bit of paper with a thumb tack and look at the crescent on the ground! You might be able to see crescents being projected through the leaves on trees, if the leaves are dense enough.

There was a total eclipse where I live. This whole thing was massively blown out of proportion, I feel bad for the people that spent their vacation time traveling across the country to watch the sun disappear for like 30 seconds followed by partial darkness then back to normal. It was cool, but it wasn't that cool

Had 98% here in Omaha, just watched and got over. Kind of cool, was hoping it would get even darker. Dropped 5 degrees during it.

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

Wait, it was today?! Damn it! Didn't even bother looking up at the sky (it was over 80% here in Calgary). Sigh*

Then again, I didn't even bother buying those glasses in the first place (was planning on looking up without them since I don't care about the rules, but I heard you really can't see it well unless its totally covering the sun).

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

70% here, didn't really get too dark, but it was still cool. To 2024!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Also, I didn't go blind. Good for me.

It was cool. It was dark but not dark enough where I live. Unless it's 100% totality and not a few off you're not going to get full darkness. The sun is just too damn bright so even with say 3% brightness, it's still going to hinder the dark effect.

Lube Me Up

It was pretty awesome where I was, mainly because there was a lot of cloud cover. So when the eclipse happened, it got DARK, and I could hear people in my neighborhood freaking out for a minute. LOL. But I can't imagine a whole day of prep for an experience so brief.

Cut out a small circle of cardboard and gradually move it in front of a lit lightbulb so it obscures it completely then gradually move it away from the lightbulb so the lightbulb can be seen again. Same effect, you can repeat whenever you want and don't risk damaging your eyesight.

I also have an alternative to the moon landings using a bag of cement and a small doll.
