I need to amend my previous post. The blame for Andromeda falls squarely on Bioware. EA offered to get Bioware Montreal another 6 months but they choose to launch the game as is. Subsequently the studio was disbanded. Given the state of MEA at launch, I really can't blame EA for shutting them down.

Can you post a link to that? I've never heard of something like that happening.

It was in the massive Kotaku article. There was a lot of interoffice politics at Bioware. The Montreal studio was resistant to any help. They seemed concerned that Edmonton was trying to take over their project. EA was willing to delay the game but Montreal turned them down.

This isn't going to go down well for the series.

I read that article, but I never heard anything about extra dev time. They needed it out by March, so they had to cram. It was only in development for around 18 months, with most of the so called "5 year dev time" going into concepts and possibilities into the game.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Probably wont be a sequel to Andromeda.

Looks like this game was a completely flop for EA, the developers and most importantly the fans.
Very sad to see what has happened to one of the biggest franchises from the last generation.

This is likely the end of the ME franchise.

I don't think it will be the end. The trilogy did really well. They'll probably do another entry when the main bioware studio is available.

I don't know why they let the montreal studio which handled the dlc and functioned as a support studio, be the main studio for ME:A. I hope whatever new IP the main studio was working on was worth it.

Should I still buy it though, its like $30 on PSN, and I really like the Multiplayer of ME3, but was holding off on Andromeda thanks to circumstances like this. Is the game worth it for half the intended price?

Disappointing. I enjoyed at Andromeda despite it's flaws. It was, in many ways, the game I was expecting Mass Effect 2 to be. It expanded on ME1's premise. Given it's sales placement on the NPD Charts. It's sold over 3 million copies in North America. MEA is 7th best in sales this year. The 6 best selling game has over 3.5 million units old. The 8th best has over 3 million units sold. Having to find out what the fate of the Quarian Ark in books or comics is just plain unacceptable. The game didn't hit EA's lofty sales goals but it was profitable.

So was Superman Returns. It did not get a sequel, because of the hated nature that came from it. Same goes with Andromeda. Even if the writing screw ups and all the technical aspects of the game never get repeated. People do not trust Andromeda's line anymore. People would be on the wait for reviews train. EA doesn't want to bother risking a full loss. It be like if Nintendo made Federation Force 2. But promised Samus would be the main lead. Ignoring everything else that's wrong with the game.

Unfortunate. While I'm sure it won't matter much on the PC where mods are already fixing all of those issues, it definitely sucks for console gamers.

As much as I love mods, which are the reason that I usually buy the PC version of any game if it's not exclusive to consoles, it does seem like some publishers like Bethesda and Bioware are increasingly lacking in polish as they know within a few weeks it will all be fixed and improved upon by mods. I don't really like the trend... mods were meant to expand on the experience, not to fix the vanilla experience itself which is supposed to be the Devs' job.

RIP Mass Effect.
