I totally agree :c that's really what the question should be. I'm the same as many other people who have made be same comment here; play at home, but undocked. 

And if they are at a beach, they are enjoying the damn beach instead of playing some game they can play any other time.

So, 1/6th at the moment prefer to play outside compared to at home. Sounds reasonable, and that figure might increase next summer when the christmas period has passed with all kids getting their Switches 🙂. Playing at home also doesn't mean playing in docked mode. I regularly use it in handheld mode at home.

or overheating in the sun if it isn't in the shade.

Switch is a home console so this shouldn't be surprising.

A better poll would be "Do you prefer to play in handheld or docked?"

I imagine, given the choice, people would rather play at home where they are most relaxed.

It's great to be able to play on the train or on a lunchbreak from work/study, but would you choose that environment over home?

For 3DS, DS or GBA I would still of chosen home vs these choices. Although maybe also leaned to friends houses than just my own. Really the options are just bad. It should of just been docked or undocked.

I don't think I've ever taken the Switch outside. And I think I play more undocked than docked.
I will almost definitely use it when I have to take an airplane.
