It's that really idiotic conservative talking point that because the democratic party was the one that did racist things in the past republicans couldn't possibly be the racist ones now. What I don't get about that, though, is the idea that the KKK was started by democrats so the republicans can't be the the racist party now, but then why do the KKK vote republican now? THey decided to mend their ways and vote for the non-racist party now, or perhaps the KKK is still just as racist, and who they support has changed with things like the Southern Strategy.

The liberal talking points that republicans are racists or that the south is racist is just as idiotic as saying that any republicans can't be racist now.

The vast majority of republicans and of the south are not racist, but there certainly is a higher proportion of racist tendencies in both groups. I think polls like this: https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2011/04/mississippi-republicans/349433/ are the most telling for such a claim. I would suggest that only by combining the tendencies of both the GOP and the south can you get any group where 46% would say that interracial marriage should be illegal. I'd be interested to see more overall data on the South and the GOP, and I'll try to look for some later.

So... is the U.S. trying to get into the impeachment trend, just like Brazil and South Korea? Interesting...

So is there an actual crime? How many times must he continue to disavow white supremacists? Are his decades of commentary against racism not enough?

BTW, interesting happenings in Berkeley...again.

I don't think anyone here actually believes Trump will be impeached. He could serve full term (or two), die of age/sickness/general bad health, or resign. I do not think he'll ever let others take him out. He's too proud for it. Out of character. They can try but it will not work, especially with Congress being majority Republican right now. I believe that if he goes it'll be:

A. He'll resign. This is, imo, only possible if his health begins to deteriorate or Mueller does have enough dirt on him. This could be advantageous for him as he could resign and claim victory over the Dems and "corrupt" Republicans and say the media took him down. This could build up big support from his group.

B. He'll die in office. He's old. Unhealthy. I think he could serve a full term but I think the stress of the WH and the attacks from the media will wear him and could actually kill him if he successfully wins a second term.

C. He'll serve full term and quit. I do think this is more likely than many think. And I do believe he will die if he gets a second term. It'd be irresponsible for his supporters to let him stay when they could easily find someone similar like Trump Jr to take lead.

D. He resigns because of Democrats. Now I believe this scenario will only happen if he wins second term. Because while I do think the Dems will win majority in 2018, I do not believe it will be a significant lead due to Dems not having a clear message right now. Right now I see them as the party against Trump, which is not a good thing, especially if you want to win parts of the south back. I think by second potentially term, the Dems will have a stronger message and win a large number of seats, which will allow them to impeach him, in which case he may also resign. It would he in the Democrats best interest not to impeach him though

This is beyond laughable. All this will mean is further loses in the midterms for democrats and our President having to replace one or two more supreme court justices.

Frankly that's a possibility that gives me a smile like no other.

That way of thinking is stil idiotic because you're presuming something messed up about a large group of people without any actual proof. Some people think it's fine to just call anyone a racist or nazi regardless if it's true just to try to discredit their opposition.

Alot of people use that word and others because they know it's offensive/insulting. Have you ever seen a mexican and a black person argue to the point they're about to fight? They say alot of racist stuff to get at eachother. It doesn't make them racist just by that.

As far as the Liberal Media is concerned, anyone who doesn't support their opinion is a racist. If you want illegals deported, racist. Want affirmative action (I.E) Racism abolished, racist. Want companies to pay penalties or make it illegal to fire American workers for H1B workers, racist. Voted for Trump, racist. Support not removing the confederate monuments, racist.

Not one of those things makes anyone a racist yet anytime someone even remotely sides with any one of those items CNN is branding them racist and saying how disgusting and un-american they are.

The whole you are your own worst enemy is really applying to the democratic party right now.

It's only gotten worse since Trump has been in office. They are like doubling down on calling pretty much anyone who doesn't agree with them as racists, bigots, ect. You know the whole Deplorables. Every time Trump does something that I think will lose him voters in the next election, the democrats do something that is even more off putting in response to that.

Then their big new slogan ends up being like a papa johns rip-off. Hilarious.
