Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bethesdas expectations on Skyrim for the Switch?

What do you think? In terms of sales?

250K? 500K? 1M? even more?

Potential

There are lots of potential buyers, there's going to be Nintendo only players who has never played the game, Skyrim fans who buys pretty much everything it releases and ofc the Skyrim fans who wants to have it on the go. The lack of big single player adventures on Switch so far should also be a factor. Release date should also factor in, you dont wanna release this game to close to Mario Odyssey.. so early October or late November/ early December maybe?

How much do you think it will sell?

I could see it be a moderate success actually... I will buy it for instance, this is a game that's gonna work well on the go for me.

I hope they don't expect more than 2m lifetime. The game has been released (and heavily discounted) everywhere else before, it can't sell that well specially when it's still full price.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I would said 1m+, and I would said that will not be hard at all.

I am optimistic. The portability factor alone can carry it to 1m. I haven't played Skyrim in so long, cannot wait to play it on the go :D

It's a port of a very old game but it's portable and that is always a plus. I think anywhere from 500k to 1.5 million is realistic. I'm strangely hyped for the game. As long as it is a decent port people will buy it. And here's hope for more Bethesda games on the Switch.

It's a handheld version of Skyrim. This can throw a different light on it.

It's a fantastic game and portability as a huge plus. Assuming its a great conversion, fully optimised for Switch it deserves to do well. Certainly when I get a Switch it will be one of my secondary titles to buy and I've played Skyrim for many, many hours already. I hope it does well because I'd also like to see conversions of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas to Switch in fact I don't see why both games couldn't be combined together on one cartridge with the DLC.

At the lowest expectations I would of thought 250,000 if its a bit rubbish with issues but assuming a good conversion maybe 750,000 to 2 million. To be honest though if the Switch continues to sell well but third parties are slow to bring out titles for the Switch I could see it doing very well over the lifetime of the Switch and if the Switch gets multiple versions of the hardware over the years and perhaps even a VR accessory a patched VR Skyrim it may still be selling in reasonable numbers 4 years from now. Considering the value aspect of the game with the potential for 100s of hours of gameplay you will get your monies worth.

I might double dip on Skyrim for that reason. I expect it to sell 1.5 - 2.0 M.

I might as well. Have had it on Steam for ages and not played. Now I feel like playing it mainly because of the Zelda experience on the go.

I dont even think it sold over 2M on the Xbox One. An established userbase for their game.. cant see them expecting that much for the Switch. That would be batcrazy.

Yeah, probably the biggest draw there is. Plus the unexplored territory that is the Nintendo userbase.
