Whenever I'm bored, I typically watch America's Got Talent with my family. Do I like the show? Yes and no, but overall my issues with it make me dislike it quite a bit (hint: it involves terrible judges and singing).

Anyway, I was seeing the results of the live show and I was surprised. Somehow, two people who have done the same roller skating trick three times in a row (with slight twists) managed to beat a daredevil who is arguably one of the best performers we've ever seen to date. He makes these tricks look difficult, but in reality he's got a gift.

We also saw this happen with another singer who managed to outdo one of the top dance crews in the world. They lost to a singer ._.

Back on topic, I just find it surprising how this show claims to look for vegas acts, but gives every decent singer an advancement and denies people who would actually be very popular in vegas. This daredevil would sell out due to all the whacky stuff he does. He also has a great personality, but for some reason America prefers to see a human fidget spinner.

It doesn't affect me personally, but it is sad when people who merely have a good voice get to go on when others have to go through hoops and still aren't guaranteed a chance to win. Many people have good voices, but how many can also write songs or provide an additional talent? The ventriloquist singer, Puddles, and the young guitarist honestly all bring good use from their talent. The ventriloquist is, well, pretty damn amazing, the guitarist writes solid songs, and Puddles manages to drastically improve a song by interpreting it differently. The other singers simply sing and it isn't appealing. The accapela group is no exception either - there are many people who would put them to shame.

Like I said, it doesn't matter, but I thought it's an interesting conversation. This show honestly has a flawed concept to it. Some of the judges are complete dumbasses (Heidi telling Puddles to be happy), and some acts simply can't win.

Singing Trump (in my opinion) is a Vegas act, but not an AGT-winner act. Why? because it's high quality, but its success depends on how many times you've seen it. You're not gonna be liking him when you've seen it multiple times, but it's still a very excellent show.

On the bright side, Britain had a pianist win, so that's pretty cool I guess(?) But it'll be disappointing if another singer won this year. I know ratings is what run the show, but it'd be cool if they had some guidelines as to not have a bunch of people who merely sing good.

Still surprised AGT viewers thought a daredevil was worse than an act which barely improved from the first audition

America has talent, since when?
I use to watch this show quite a bit before I switched to mostly reality TV shows and I did notice that it easier to get farther and win if you're a singer compared to anything else. Really pissed me off because there were great dancers and magicians that I think deserved to win

So TV is still a thing, huh.

I watch the show with my family too. But yeah this year has been very weak. Half of the acts seem to be singers or dancers (singers almost always bore me and dancers have to be really off the wall to entertain me), and everything else is just either not that impressive, old hat, or both. I'm also getting a little sick of every other performer/act having some sort of sob story that a lot of times seems to reside over the actual act. Like, this is just a freaking talent show. Entertain me, show me some talent. Quit trying to play to my emotions. It's not a damn soap opera.

I used to watch Belgium's Got Talent, but I stopped because of too many bad/boring acts. A lot of these bad/boring acts went through to the next round, often because they had some sort of sad/cute/romantic story. For example, a guy did a marriage proposal on stage, so their act won that episode.

Now I only watch videos of Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent on Youtube. That way I only get to see the best/funniest acts anymore.

Bello Nock's act was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen, and him not even being in the top 8 sounds highly suspect. It's the first time I genuinely believe all the talk about these shows being blatantly rigged, to be frank.

And yeah, singers always advancing is boring, but it makes sense from a busness perspective. They make way more money off of singers, since they have to sign with their record label etc.

Yeah, these sad stories have to stop. They honestly need a rule to either not have any or prevent this bs.

So many people use these stories just to try to get something out of the judges.

That's what pvrs are for. I watch it with my wife too, but never live. fast forwad button gets good use and reduces the show from 2 hours to 20 or max 30 minutes. We always make fun of them while fast forwarding, yeah yeah your cat died of cancer and you quit you job to be on the show because you need the money to give your mother a sex change operation, just go. Which is why Puddles was great, making his own sob story which was actually more entertaining than him singing royals.

The show also has an obsession with kids and the elederly. At least the grannies never make it far, dancing kids ugh. Plus those at the table magic card acts, really what's the point. Plus they are always easy to figure out if you simply think them through backwards. The worst was the magic 'guessing' of the iPhone unlock code. The fuck, a 5 year old can write an app that looks like an unlock screen and accepts any second input.

For some reason a lot of people I talked to couldn't realize the mistake I pointed out. The unlock transition was literally the biggest red flag to show it was all a joke. Card tricks aren't godly, but they're better than ones which are ridiculously easy to understand.

Also, Puddles sang Royals before. It was actually pretty good.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmCJEehYtU

The issue is that they clearly tried too hard to overproduce it. Also, I have seen people say they dropped the mic which interrupted his singing. See the top comment of his live performance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqlErxS43Vw

In my opinion, a perfect song for the live shows would've been Space oddity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydhE7wThDtI

Anyway, I guess I can't complain. Personally, i'd like to see Preacher Lawson or the ventriloquist win. Preacher is a memorable comedian who may not be george Carlin level, but his energy makes me appreciate him (along with him not needing to rely on dark humour). The ventriloquist is also amazing and one of the few moments I enjoy seeing singers.

Also, fuck heidi. What a dumbass host. Telling Puddles to be happy? The fuck? For Christ's sake how stupid can a person be
