Forums - Gaming Discussion - What games will MS market with XboneX now that Crackdown 3 is delayed?

It's not that they had nothing. Sony launches everything strategically at different times of the year. sony doesn't put their key ips in harms way in November . Graphicswise crackdown cannot do for Xbox one x  what horizon does with the pro. The Xbox was marketed as a console that will make third party look better anyway so I don't think it mattered that they had nothing anyway. Really and truly it should t affect much. Those who want an x will get it.

Another long winded reply with the same answer: they had nothing. Horizon came months after the Pro. When Pro launched Sony relied entirely on superior multiplats over PS4/Xbone to sell the Pro. MS will do the same for the Scorpio. Hell, at least it will have Forza 7 at launch, a AAA exclusive built to shine on the Scorpio. Pro didn't have anything like that at launch.

I understand that horizon launched months after. I stated that if Sony wanted to they could target fourth quarter they could but are not. Remember... hypothetical but not exactly far fetched given sonys capabilities. Anyway, it was actually more about the vr launch  and enhancing that experience simultaneously with multiplats and existing or coming exclusives. I agree though that Sony did not launch with any exclusives for the pro. The marketing scheme was rather similar what you are seeing with Microsoft  with the addition of vr.

Legit question, what games do they have to promote with it? Forza isn't for everybody, and the big multiplats are all in the blue camp. That leaves Shadow of Wardor and AC I think, only the former being true 4K?

When you start and needs to justify your question with "Legit question"; I think you already know that it is not. :)

They are marketing other games WAY more than Crackdown, but you already know that right?

So yah, AC, Shadows or Wars, Forza 7, etc...

The only post that makes more logical sense.

The thing is Sony deliberately didn't market the Pro strongly because they knew the base PS4 would be the breadwinner.

A reminder: Sony sold all the Pros they manifactured.

Microsoft on the other hand need the X to sell after their marketing push tanked the sales of the S.

Them launching with nothing leaves them with no momentum, while Sony only needed "PS4, but better".

As much as these two launches aren't dissimilarin terms of content, they are in terms of their company's status in the industry.

Actually MS has not marketed the X1X any different then Sony did for the Pro.  They have constantly stated that its not a new system its an extension of the existing hardware.  They have stated it will not have any exclusive games.  MS does not need the X to sell like the S because they already know it will not.  If anything from the beginning MS has marketed the X1X as a more powerful S and that is pretty much it.

The X1X purpose was never to gain momentum over the PS4 because the PS4 has already pass the finish line.  There is nothing MS can do that will change this narative this generation.  If anything the X1X will be a very good base system when the Next Xbox and PS system hit the market.  Then it might actually pick up some sales as we probably will not see tripple digget performance in the next systems to come out.

What Ludicrous is forgetting is that the Playstation 4 Pro is A ) Based on the leading console, it is not playing catch up and B ) Sony already had MANY MANY titles that people wanted 4k updates for

Don't forget Super Lucky's Tale....

jk

i think they're counting on Digital Foundry to sell them for them.

The difference is Sony did briefly announce it..and just started to sell it. They didn't try to create a tale of some monster appearing for close to 1.5 years before its release.

We all know it was pre-mature marketing in order to counter the PS4Pro, but I'm not sure if it did them any favours given the actual situation.

At this point I'm not even sure they will release X1X at the announced release date. Given the fact there are still no pre-orders available it's well possible it'll get delayed as well.

Well considering what is inside of the X1X compared to the Pro, it is a monster.  Weather that means anything is up to the customer.  The basic premise is still the same for both consoles no matter what people want it to be.  The Pro and X1X are mid gen consoles designed to give an extra buff to current games and provide scaling to 4K TVs.  Neither were designed to be these systems that will propell customers to purchase them in volumn.

As for preorders for the system, MS stated they will reveal at gamerscon.  You will have that time to see if your prediction is true.  Since the system seems done, I see no reason why they would delay it.  It was never going to light up MS sales so there is nothing for it to delay for.

So by your logic PS4 was a monster too...it's power advantage was around 40% as well, with better RAM and faster bandwidth.. just like now with X1X..the biggest difference being the 3 extra Gigs of RAM. On the other hand PS4 Pro has AMD Vega features the X1X GPU lacks.

I'm not expecting them to delay it, it would be suicide. They just can't afford it. After faux "true 4K", delayed power of "The Cloud" and lack of games this year, the brand's general perception is already at an alltime low. That said I believe everything can happen. We'll know soon. Gamescom is next week...still debating if I should go.

To be fair, ~0.4 TF is significantly less potential than the additional 2 TF X1X has over PS4 Pro. X1X also has 4 GB (not 3 GB) additional RAM for games and a faster/custom CPU that supposedly can do more with less overhead. This will all help significantly if X1X becomes a cheap 9th gen machine in the future.

While PS4 has faster RAM than X1, I never got the impression it helped much in practice. Its likely PS4 gets better performance primarily from the superior GPU and its generally the lead platform (hence, better optimization).

I have to admit that his constantly stating that the Scorpio would be a "true 4k experience" even when he must have known that was a bunch of hooey has really damaged my impression of him.

His job is also to do PR. Which he does. All the time.

Of course, but one of the things people liked most about him was that he's been mostly straightforward and upfront when discussing the industry. This is the first time I can recall that he really seems to be trying to mislead people which, given he's claiming the Scorpio is the first "true 4k" console when it isn't capable of anything close to that consistently and yet still (now hypocritically) had been making the distinction between what the PS4 Pro has to offer and a true 4K experience, really irritates me.

The hypocrisy of implying by exclusion that the PS4 Pro isn't a true 4k console when the one you're touting as being the first has to likewise employ tricks and such to get anywhere close to 4k in most games is a bad look for the man and the brand imo
