Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best story in a Nintendo developed game

Startropics. And of course Earthbound.

Also agree on the Metroid Prime games, Fire Emblem and Pikmin.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Super Metroid or Earthbound.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Hmm... I'm not that super into games with that much focus on story, probably Xenoblade Chronicles X and Pokémon Sun and Moon would be my picks since they're the only really games I've played with much of a story. Does Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros Brawl count as much of a story...? There probably is something I'm not remembering...

The Fire Emblem games imho have pretty good stories. Sometimes the dialogue gets silly but overall the well developed characters push that series a long way.

I guess the question is whether or not those would be considered to be Nintendo-developed.

True, I always thought they were owned by Nintendo and technically a first party title. They are so closely partnered with Nintendo that they even once operated in their R&D offices I believe.

Fire Emblem Tellius (Path of Radiance/Radiance Dawn) without a doubt for me

Mother 2/Earthbound is a close contender though

Definitely not BOTW. Practically false advertising. Offensively bad.

Anyways out of all the Nintendo games I've played(which isn't the most mind you) it would definitely be Majora's Mask, and I don't see that changing tbqh. One of the BEST stories in video games.

Yessssss I can't overstate this enough! I'm watching a friend play through the game now actually, who hasn't played it before, and they think that it's a wonderfully crafted world with a beautiful story. And yet, they don't even know half of the hidden stuff yet =p

Metroid Prime 2 for sure, no Nintendo game has a better atmosphere or back-story. A truly under-rated gem. Read some of those scan logs and tell me I'm wrong lol.

Pretty strong contender too, no doubt. That game added a lot to the Metroid franchise for me, looking back it was definitely underrated back in the day. The gameplay is a different question (since some people had qualms with it), but the story/atmosphere was just *MWAH*

Xenoblade Chronicles.

My vote as well. It consistently kept me engaged with a constant stream of reveals and surprises; every time I thought I had it all figured out, what I knew turned out to be only a small part of a larger picture.

Super Paper Mario and Xenoblade had great stories.
