It has to be Fire Emblem Blazing Sword/Binding Blade. These are some of the best stories of any game ever.
On Xenoblade, while I liked much of the game, I didn't find the plot was particularly strong, especially compared to Xenosaga and Xenogears. My biggest beef with Xenoblade was the rigid and drawn out feeling of a lot of the plot, it wasn't very smoothed out, and it was way too chopped up at parts. This was especially evident on my second play through which I did immediately after playing XCX. To be honest, I liked XCX's story more; while there was lots of subplot, I found it WAY more interesting than the majority of XC's story - particularly the stuff from the opening segments to the Fallen Arm; although the Fallen Arm segment is my favourite bit in any Xenogame since XS3. I suppose my issue is that XCX's story felt more enjoyable most of the time, but XC had the best bit.

My two cents, I feel XC story felt like a more complete experience, while the story of XCX felt like an installment of something bigger. While I prefer XC story as of now, X2 could easily tilt the scales permanently in the other direction. Basically, XCX has FAR more potential than XC, and interests me far more, but XC (a game meant to be a single entry) told a complete story. I hope we get the answers to XCX so I can give a real decision.

Well put. XCX did play out a lot like an intro to something larger. I found the climactic scenes at the end to be better in XCX (especially with the Kadamony revelation; which Xenogears fans may have found more value in), still, but there's definitely not the closure/falling action that XC had in tying off the ending. There's a lot on the table for XCX, but I don't think a direct sequel is necessary, they could jump ahead in time to an era where the planet has multiple human settlements. They could even go 10,000 years into the future, open up the world a little more, and do a spiritual retelling of Xenogears; with an explanation of the fate of the Mim civilization and the rise of the XCX version of Cain, the Gazel ministry, Miang, and Abel. It wouldn't be the exact same as Xenogears, if it were to actually be closer: Mira and New LA would be one of the early human space settlements, and the capital would be New Jerusalem - assuming New Jersusalem doesn't end up being on Mira - or New LA is XCX's version of New Jerusalem.
