Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Best story in a Nintendo developed game

Of all the games developed by Nintendo's first party studios over the years, which do you think has the best story, and why?

Cory in the House (DS)

The Fire Emblem games imho have pretty good stories. Sometimes the dialogue gets silly but overall the well developed characters push that series a long way.

Mario and Luigi Bowser's insode story had excellent character development and an acceptablw plot.

Pikmin 1 and 2. They don't try to be overly complicated, it's just the story of Olimar (and Louie in 2) trying to put food on the table for his family, and to get back to them at the end of the day. 2 fleshes out Olimar's character massively as well, his letters from home at the end of each day, as well as his notations on all of the treasures/monsters allow you a really deep insight into who he is as a person. Out of all of Nintendo's characters, he is the most relatable and the most human. Consequently, I felt a lot more invested in the story and getting him back home, to support his family.

Definitely not BOTW. Practically false advertising. Offensively bad.

Anyways out of all the Nintendo games I've played(which isn't the most mind you) it would definitely be Majora's Mask, and I don't see that changing tbqh. One of the BEST stories in video games.

There is no fucking contest.

Kid Icarus Uprising.....

Like nothing else compares lol

Metroid Prime 2 for sure, no Nintendo game has a better atmosphere or back-story. A truly under-rated gem. Read some of those scan logs and tell me I'm wrong lol.

In terms of atmosphere there are few games I have ever experienced that can rival Prime 2. It's still my least fav of the trilogy due to some gameplay quibbles, but its still an outstanding game.

Xenoblade Chronicles.
