Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Crackdown 3 delayed until Spring 2018

I do believe 2018 will be MS best year for the Xbox One as far as exclusives go. They will have their best Spring lineup in a long time with likely have Halo 6 and FH4 during the Fall.

I am hoping so for their sake.
We need competition in this industry... But if Microsoft cannot pony up the goods, then consumers will simply go elsewhere, Microsoft has no one else to blame but themselves.

Delaying Crackdown 3 this year is a double edged sword... It will make 2018 look far better, the game might get the improvements that people have been criticising it for (I.E. Graphics.).
But then the Xbox One X has to push through the Holiday Season solo and the expectations for Crackdown 3 will only get larger.

***

I am pretty sure I haven't played my Xbox One since March, mostly just grabbed new free games and that was it.

MS does need to be more aggessive with exclusives. 3rd party alone won't push a console to sell well.

Overall, I think the Crackdown 3 delay is a good thing. Crackdown franchise is not a system seller. It has a solid fanbase but nothing to push consoles in a significant way. This will give the game some breathing room to sell better.

Well. As far as I know, Crackdown 1+2 weren't massive console hardware pushing sellers, so I don't expect Crackdown 3 to break that precedent. - Happy to be proven wrong though, Microsoft needs the success.

2018 should prove the be the interesting year for Xbox.

Sea of Thieves, Crackdown, Halo 6, Forza, State of Decay 2, Ori and The Will of the Wisps... Gears of War 5 might get pushed out to 2019, but 2018 could still happen.

But 2019 could end up being a repeat of 2017 with only Forza holding down the fort. Yuck.

Microsoft needs to build out it's first and second party studios... But that will take time and investment, something which they aren't doing right now as they are maintaining investment levels.

Hoping we get a halo 6 reveal trailer today during gamescom. Microsoft needs something big to spur sales. And a $560 console (after taxes) isn't gonna do much long term.

I think the delay is because Crackdown 3 developers noticed how powerful and beastly the Xbox One X really is, making the use of The Cloud redundant.

There is no need for Cloud Computing anymore, the Xbox One X is powerful enough to process all the required physics as shown in the first demo, easily.

If im not mistaken, i read in the Windows Central website that the Xbox One X is equivalent to a 4.500$ PC, which would be able to render all the particles and effects needed for this ground breaking game.

The developers should take the time they need, even if they have to delay the game again, i wouldnt be mad. Crackdown 3 will change the gaming scenario, just like Mario 64 did in its time.

Just have patience people, it will be worth it.

Dought it highly. Its because the game just isnt quality wise on par. The multiplayer needs to be worked on and the physics didnt always demo so well. The cloud talk was all marketing buzz.  Also, I think Microsoft caught wind of the fact that the internet was complaining about the stupid idea to send their game to its death in november.

I think there's  little chance Microsoft would launch Gears 5 and Halo 6 in the same year. I think you're right that Halo 6 will be 2018 and Gears 5 will be 2019.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I dont know, I might be wearing a tin foil hat rigt now, but this all seems intentional. This yas has been so sad and sony is buzzing with possitivity and huge line up and 2018 looking even better, that makes me think all the games aimed at 2017 being now 2018 was intentional so they can actually have the greatest line up in xbox history. inmagine gears in summer then halo a couple of months later then finish with forza along with all theese smaller games evenly spced alone the begining of the year like state of decay, se of thives, crackdown, ori and the other ones. Sonny would still crush it but they can ride that hype for the rest of the gen.

Edit: P.S. dont really think fable and scalebound are completly dead. We might see something creaping in the future just to not let all that development go to waste.

If it's intentional, it is incredibly stupid on their part.  Sony doesn't have the mightiest of forces assembled for the Holiday, so they aren't dodging anything.  They're just hamstringing the Xbox One X's launch.

Have it ever been true? We already had the table with all exclusives launched and it's pretty clear no year of X1 was better than all before it.

probably not but I would have to look at it again. I felt like 2014-2015 was very solid, 2016 was good. 2017 sucks. 360 obviously had better exclusives overall, especially the first 5 years.

Yes, saying it was solid is fair, just the hyperbolic "best lineup" that seems silly.

The numbers of 2007 or 2008 they posted here had like 11 exclusives and the average during X360 was 7 per year... so X1 never had a year bigger than the one with 11 exclusives, and even the averaged 7... so it have been BS marketing from the start.

I don't think a second iteration of Gears or Halo will be massive system seller on the generation (even if they are tailored for X1X, it may drive X1X sales, but I don't think it will move the needle of total userbase that much).

I never said they are doging sony. Sony themselfs are doging third partys on the holidays, they know its stupid to release in the most crowded months, it might be that MS finally caught up and said maybe our weak games wont fare so well against the likes of call of duty, destiny, assasin creed and all thouse others.

Early in the year sony crushed it with an incredible amount off titles. nintendo had zelda and the switch still very good. and MS had halo wars.....ok.... although the new year there are usually a couple of titles like in febuary through may, like one a month from third partys.

Who knows, maybe we are seing the end of the summer droughts, there tends to be like only one big game in the summer, nintendo brought 2 this summer, I think hellblade counts for sony(maybe, its not big but it looks good and decent price) Dont rememeber if any third party brought anything. Wich I dont get, this shuld be the golden time when people are free from school, adults tend to take the most time off, college kids are home. Everyone has more time to game, multyple big titles should happen more in the summer.

Per Phil Spencer:

"2017 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years ever for Xbox gamers. We are preparing to launch the most powerful console ever made this holiday – Project Scorpio – along with a diverse lineup of games. In fact, we are committed to delivering even more exclusive games for both Xbox One and Windows 10 this year than we launched in 2016.  I was very proud of our first-party lineup in 2016 and I am encouraged by an even bigger and more differentiated first-party lineup in 2017, starting with today’s launch of Halo Wars 2."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Xbox doesn't need to rely on Gears and Halo"

Yes the guy doesn't even blush while telling all those lies.

And when we question Xbox fans why they believe the guy and to have any show that MS is really investing in their 1st party and exclusives we have a lot of back and forth without any real point in them.

You do know the developer can just call them and say they needed more time to polish the game, right? Crackdown had a release date and sometime after the announcement that would've happen so it most likely wasn't a lie as some are hoping.
