Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch sales in Japan compared to other consoles

And I imagine it would have been higher if Nintendo were able to meet demand better. It certainly seems like this will be a success in Japan.

It's basically a handheld and you are comparing it to PSP which isn't a Nintendo HH and 3DS that is basically the worst selling HH. I'm sure I saw someone in a thread saying that it is bellow mediocre to sell better than your worst selling device even in Japan.

3DS is not a bad seller in Japan, people need to understand that.

It's outsold every Sony system in Japan ever and every Nintendo home console in Japan. It's the third best selling system there, if Switch sells on par with the 3DS in Japan, that's a huge success for Nintendo.

3DS' sales in North America and Europe are where there's something left to be desired, clearly in those markets the impact of smartphones hurt Nintendo a lot.

This is why imo the PR for the NS in the west is that it's a home system even though it's a hybrid and will most likely be handled the way the portables were handled before it.

That was brought to my attention earlier, but thanks for reinstaiting it. But it being more a HH than a console to most would make sense to align it's sales more to HH than to console don't you agree?

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Wii saw a November release as many others... they had almost 2 full Holiday sales period taking a few weeks.

getting close to Wii with a March release is a very great indicator imo.
