I was in your position but I just bought mine today at a pretty good deal. I wanted to get one at MSRP before Odyssey hit. Get one before the end of October or you might not get one at a decent price until 2018.

Give it about 6 - 12 months for an announcement.
9 - 18 months release at the earliest.

It's very very evident that Nintendo will release a revision no more than half of 2018. They even announce newcolors soon.lol. That will not suffice against the holidays price cut of the Ps4 and Xbox One. So Nintendo is in the urge of a revision. I think I understand your impulse for buying a Switch. I still recall when was in the urge of buying a Vita.lol. Some things never change.

Aesthetically yes but they serve a purpose: in the event of a minor defect in the dock that would inflict any meaningful scratches, said damage would occurr on the bezels and not the actual display.  This is a design decision resulting from choosing plastic over glass.  If a later revision goes high grade guerrilla glas, the bezels may be eliminated. 

I would wait suggest waiting. Might be able to get some better bundles. I fell for the hype and have barely touched it, though I'm not really an Nintendo guy.

I can't see a new model arriving for a while though, so if that's your biggest concern, just buy one now.

This is what I walked out with in the end.

I bought two screen protectors and I am nto sure I want to use the thick glass one or not lol. Supposedly the unit still slides into the hole with it on.

PS - I already had zelda as I bought the limited edition when it launched with the sword statue.

Let's get one thing straight, the only thing that will prevent Switch from outselling the Xbone this holiday is if they don't produce enough to meet demand. PS4...nothing can be done to beat it. It's in its peak years, great price, tons of games. But Switch based on Nintendo's IP alone should be able to outsell Xbone this holiday and lifetime. They don't need a revision this year or even next year. I think we'll see one in 2019.
