Forums - Nintendo Discussion - All GameStop stores restocking Switch tomorrow for the first time since launch

Nice to see stock shipments growing in size and frequency. I know my local Game Stop (that is the one I actually like :P ) will be happy because people have been coming in and complaining because the company sent out "we have Switch stock" signs to literally every store but failed to put on the sign that it's the CHAIN that has them, not the store. But the store has to put it up so every day people come in looking for these Switches only to find out this specific store doesn't have them. You can imagine the reactions :P

The 🅱ita, also good to see that stocks are becoming more consistent and I really hope that everyone who wants a switch durin holiday will be able to get one. Or else parents will buy a PS4 instead.

Why would they give you $100 for a Vita?? Who is buying a second hand Vita from GS for over $100??

With trade-in promotions like these it's rarely about making money and more about removing systems from the open market. This Vita system is now not available anymore for someone to buy second hand or even worse get gifted. That way those people actually have to buy new devices and games. That creates new customers and keeps consumers consuming through retailers rather than second hand market places. The second hand market is pure poison to retailers.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I wouldnt worry too much about that, If some person want Switch it will buy it eventually in any case regardless this holiday season, PS4 don't offer full handheld mode, local multiplayer on the go out of box, or games like Zelda BotW, MK8D, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey, Switch is very difrent compared to PS4.

Gonna get a second one for my daughter, then.

I never considered that, very interesting.

You can get $100 for trading in a Vita in the US? Trade-in value for PS4/Pro is the same? How the hell did one of the biggest game retailers miss out on restocking on a popular platform for so long?

I have so many questions, but no answers.

The former question has been answered by vivster.

Oh, and the article may be read as the first time all GameStop outlets were restocked simultaneously since launch. There may have been large-scale restocks in the past, but none where all GameStop outlets were a part of the restock.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

You are over-estimating many consumers, who want will frequently want to buy something cheap and popular to shut their kids up. Switch shortages will certainly create more sales for PS4 (or XBO).

Not saying that you're entirely wrong though, Switch does have a unique appeal that will keep some waiting.

Like I wrote, "If some person wants Switch it will buy it eventually in any case regardless this holiday season", but if some person wants any console for holiday season just to shut their kids up, from that standpoint some people will buy PS4 or XB1 instead (but in that case some people would buy PS4/XB1 in any case and regardles Switch shortages).

My point was, the points that make the Switch unique, are not really that unique to some people.

I missed that "eventually" part, I must admit.
