Eight Days is the only thing I really wish was made, this one seems like ya, it sounds pretty meh.

Yea. Of all the games Sony has cancelled, 8 days is probably the only one I really wanted to see brought to life.  EverQuest Next was cool looking, too, but not quite as appealing to me as 8 days.

Of course, even when Sony cancels a game, you know they have at least 8-10 other still in the works. A few of which are new IPs.

Kill Strain had an immemorable title, ugly visuals, and gameplay that seemed to require lots of active players, not at all surprised it died. Wonder how Tomortow Children and Drawn to Death are doing. I do recall Sony putting quite a few videos for Kill Strain on their YT channel...

Apparently a short lived life.

Thankfully it got cancelled.

But we missed out on what could have potentially become the game of the century.

Not unless it would replace my dog as a best friend, my cat as a QT3.14, my girlfriend for company and sex, etc.

...and it didn't look like it would do any of it. In fact, it looked quite bad.

I can't believe they cancelled this game. It was the game that was going to make me buy a PS4!

Not as bad as what they did to Zipper.

eh, they werent exactly making money for Sony for  very long time. not surprising.

And that's Sonys fault, especially after what they made them do to SOCOM 4 :)

According to verified ex-Zipper guys on GAF, during development Sony went to Zipper and had them change the game from a traditional third person realistic SOCOM style shooter to basically CoD in third person. Had them change the MP to modes more suited for quick gameplay and less about what always made SOCOM great. Of course, right after it released the whole PSN hack happened IIRC, which certainly didn't help the game.

What's worse is that Japanese guy from the "how to lend games on PS4 ad" has used the poor sales of SOCOM 4 as evidence that people don't care for these types of games any more and the SOCOM crowd has moved on. Well, no, maybe you just made a real shitty CoD clone and slapped the SOCOM name on it :)

Of course, games like R6 Siege, which very much resembles SOCOM MP, and the new Ghost Recon, which very much resembles SOCOM SP, prove him wrong.

Zippers vision for SOCOM 4 was an own world, tactical, jump in campaign just like we saw recently with Ghost Recon, and MP that went back to the SOCOM I/II roots. Instead according to at least 3 devs on GAF, Sony kept forcing them to make it more and more accessible, more and more CoD. The result was a rough dev process and a shitty game...

I have no doubts Sony lets lots of their devs do whatever they want. But they're also a publisher and also a business, it makes no sense to think they never influence what a developer is making for them. They fiddled around too much with Zipper and to quote one of the developers, it "killed the franchise and the studio".

Nothing else for me to really say on the matter :)
