Feels like a WiiU port game like MK8D but better. More stuff added like Salmon Run, new weapons, and other improvements but it sucks that loading screen minigames were removed.

Great game overall but Nintendo, put the minigames back! What the hell!?

Meh. Personally, I find the remix feature way cooler than any of those minigames that got boring after a couple of plays.

That said, not having the remix feature on team/league battles is baffling.

I loved the volleyball/bowling minigame and I hope Nintendo can put minigames back in. Maybe Nintendo will put them back with paid online to help convince people to subscribe... I hope that's the plan because I loved the minigames.

It plays it safe but in a good way. Not everything needs to be a groundbreaking masterpiece.

I'm actually relieved they didn't change Splatoon 2 too much.

My biggest worry was I was going to have to keep my fucking Wii U hooked up and I like my Wii U just fine, but I really don't have the space in my current setup to have another game console sitting there just to play one game, and I was still playing Splatoon 1 several times a week.

If they had changed it too much, sure some stuff might've been cool, but it would've gone away in all likely hood from what the original did and if I wanted to get my "Splatoon 1" fix, I'd have to go back to the Wii U. Which I wasn't keen to do.

I'm pretty sure the minigames aren't coming back until Nintendo at least figures out how to make a lobby screen less cluttered, because as of right now there's no room anywhere on that thing. It only happened on the Wii U because they had 2 screens.

Either way, I'd much rather be able to change gear or be able to leave in a lobby rather than have those minigames back. It's also good they still brought back the only decent minigame from the first game and actually made it almost fun this time.

ARMS is perfectly able to have a practice room with a lobby running in the background so why not Splatoon 2?

And almost forgot: Give us playable Octolings, Nintendo! Put them behind an Amiibo or the online subscription if you have to. I'm trying to give you my money but sometimes, you won't let me.

Because Arms is a game made by 2017 Nintendo, whereas Splatoon 1/2 were made by 2015 Nintendo.

In other words, we're comparing Breath of the Wild Nintendo vs. Tri Force Heroes Nintendo. You get the point.

I doubt that. I'm hoping it's just Nintendo holding back some stuff for when they finally roll out their paid subscription.

Definitely not.
New horde mode
New weapons and Subs
Tons of new clothing
New maps
New single player experience
That's as much a sequel as you can get.

Sounds like an expansion to me.

It doesn't have to fresh WOW! effect the first one had anymore and may look a bit too similar, but other than that it's a very good sequel - just the final boss is a bit underwhelming, especially compared to the one in the first game

It's a good sequel and better in every way than first game.

No, it is far too similar to the previous game.
It is closer to a remaster with some added content.
A sequel is suposed to build on the previous game, not be the previous game.

Imo:

- campaign is new and much better

- they add great Salmon Run

- multiplayer is remastered

And the most important thing - game still evolve. Let's wait a year and then compare both games.

I think that's the thing that's clouding some people. Not to say they're wrong, but here's some perspective. We are most likely comparing the final version of the first game to the initial version of the second game. As I said before, the first game didn't even have the ranked modes, private battles, the slosher, the ink brush, the splattling, Mahi Mahi, etc. at launch. At least in the second game, all of them are available (ranked modes after level 10) at launch along with a new Salmon Run, new single player with ability to use multiple weapons, LAN play, new fixes to the multiplayer, and we just got the splat brella with more to come like the pirate ship stage.

Whether you care about that perspective, that's up to you. Nevertheless, that's how the development of Splatoon 1 came about post-launch.
