So they are claiming a big change that will make you change the way you look at achievments is coming. We know MS are trying so hard to change their fortunes in their battle against Sony. What's the biggest thing they could come up with in this aspect to help them?

To me it would be to allow XBL Gold members to receive free XBL credit for their Achievments. So say they complete all Achievments for a game they earn $1 of XBL credit. Something like that. If Sony had the equivelent, In my career on PSN I would have earn $58 over almost 10 years which isn't a lot but would definitely change the way you look at trophies as they say. You'd probably be more likely to push youself by playing the game longer until you get 100%. That's my idea anyway.

Do you think this is what MS have up their sleeve or do you think something else?

Yeah, it'd be cool being able to use achievement points for credits. I don't know if they'd ever do that, but if Sony did that with trophies, I'd probably actually try to get more of them.

I don't think it's anything big. Probably going to do something with avatars or add achievements to clubs.
I hope they don't change how achievements work. I like it the way it is now.

Sony is a very dominant market leader. They are very unlikely to do something like this. Last time they did was when they were not doing so great with PS3 and wanted in on that online subscription money. So they made it optional and provided free games as a result something far superior to the XBL offering at the time.

Now the tables have turned even more so if anyone is going to bring it in, it will be MS as they are the ones trying to win people back. Sony would probably hold off for a few years if it was successful and might bring it in with the ps5 if they felt it was needed. If there was a big outcry why PS4 was lacking it while XB1 had it sony migh drag their heals a bit before bringing it in next year.

Hmm, so in other words, if we want the PS to be better, we should actually want it to not succeed.

It sounds like they're going to copy the VGC Badge system.

Well it's a double edged sword. Financially if PS3 did much worse then it did Sony might have packed it in. I'd probably say we should want PS4 to sell aswell as it is but XB1 to also match it in sales so Sony will be looking over their shoulder saying, we need to do better, Currently MS are not challenging Sony so they are not going to be too stressed about copying MS's good ideas.

Seems part of the ongoing shift from a games console to xbox live ecosystem.

Somebody who only plays multiplayer in Halo 5 at a professional level, maybe they only have 2000 Gamerscore," Xbox exec Mike Ybarra told Windows Central, "[but] you want to be able to celebrate that person.

If you had used Microsoft rewards for 10 years (not more than 5 minutes a day) you would've received at least $550 worth of points to redeem stuff like Xbox gift cards and Gold subscriptions.
$1 for completing a game is nothing.
