Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo has crossed the line that even EA, Capcom, and Activision hasn't!

Well, there will always be people that say Nintendo is different from the others and they do all for the good of their hearts... but looking at Nintendo history their practices aren't any better than MS or Sony.

Simple solution: buy the game, "pirate" the amiibo.

If Nintendo don't want people to clone their amiibos using third-party tools (or their phones!), they can tone down the cashgrabs ;)

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

This isn't new to nintendo (if i'm not mistaken) It's pretty scummy but if people keep buying into it, just like pre-order shenanigans or abusive microtransactions, it's gonna keep happening. Blame the people, I say.

You can't even just pay for DLC (which is absurd to have to do in itself). You must buy a kids toy to unlock the game's best mode! Now what is a grown man going to do with this toy? Am I supposed to run around with it and say "pow" "pow"? No, I'd just throw it in the trash. What a waste! As a long time Metroid fan going back to the 90s, I was very excited about Metroid: Samus Returns, but now I just feel insulted.

Video games are for kids. Do you run about with your 3ds going pow pow?

Rated for 10 year olds to play it, you are already 34 years out of the target demo of the game, if you are happy to buy a product made for a 10 year old then you should have no shame about buying an accessory designed for a 10 year old to use with that game.

I'm surprised it's E10, I thought it would have been rated T.

Capcom confined RE7 VR to a ~400USD+ device.
PC players couldn't play the game the way it was designed to be played, despite the technology being available and greatly superior.

Activision has gated parts of the Skylanders games behind physical toys in a more disgusting, money squeezing manor than Metroid.
At least Nintendo are not telling us that Zelda's DLC will be more important than the main game.
So yeah, Nintendo are not as bad as Activison.

EA is more of a smear of garbage, with all the franchises / companies they have needlessly run into the ground and so on.

Microsoft just straight up spies on you...
Yeah.
Oh and while I am at it, what bu...

Yeah, the Metroid Amiibo stuff sucks, and is indefensible; but let us not forget all the scum that other companies do.
We should not stop calling companies out on stupid stuff like this, if you are going to do on-card DLC you should at least allow people to buy the key digitally.
But hey, on the bright side at least the DLC is easy to steal with NFC spoofing.

Take a shot at Nintendo but leave the bias at the door, please.

Im pretty sure Adults are the ones that collects these amiibos and DONT EVEN OPEN IT!!!!!

To resell as collectors items? I can see sense in that, but not to have to own one to unlock a games best mode.

Well I'm 35, got a dozen amiibos and use them in different games

However, I do partly agree with your statement - but only because there's just too many amiibos now. Amiibo have the advantage to unlock things in several games, not just one, but churning out new amiibos with almost every amiibo-able game is just too much

@irstupid: Beating the game unlocks hard mode, but not fusion mode. Though maybe you can get that one after beating hard mode, too

Some butthurt Nintendo fans in here. Nobody is saying you're a manchild for liking Amiibos, but many of us really don't want to fill our homes with plastic toy figures.

Oh no, a reasonable response!!

The game already has a hard mode, Fusion mode is just a really hard mode, the amiibo a aren't even necessary

You know, buy like a 100 nfc tags on amazon for pennies on the dollar. then download the codes online for whatever amiibo dlc you want and do it that way...Yes the amiibo can look cool, but not everyoen wants to have 100 figurines in tehir house.

Good advice. Paying extra for a fricking *difficulty setting* is pathetic. Hopefully you're right and people can unlock it like a normal game.
