I have 25 km to work.
Takes 25 min with car in fair traffic, 40-60 min in bad traffic and about 8 h when the snow chaos hits every november.

5 minute drive one way. I sometimes have to do it up to 10 times a day.
...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.
Depends if you like the job. But if that kind of salary increase maybe it's better to just move closer to the new work. Then you'll have all the benefits and a shorter commute.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
