Forums - Gaming Discussion - Activision: Destiny 2 DLC could be as important as the Base game

This doesn't bode very well. I was disappointed with the beta and news like this doesn't do very much.

I'll wait for the complete edition.

the difference being?

That one you are paying for a lot of content with a fair price, and the other that you are paying for something that is not worth the price being asked?

Mario Kart 8 and The Witcher 3 DLC price was 20 dollars I believe but they added so much to the game.MK 8 added about 50% more content to the game, and the Witcher 3 was a 40 hours adventure(give or take), with this added content being of a very high quality.(Mind you that the main agme was around 70 hours of so playing normaly)

As for Destiny, it was the complete oposite. It was extremely expensive, and each expansion didnt add alot of content.Thats why people are pissed.

did you play destiny and its expansions?

a common theme i've noticed with destiny haters, is that for the most part they never played the game, they simply parrot what they hear other people saying

I haven't played Destiny, but it doesn't take a blind eprson to notice that;

1) the game isn't perfect, otherwise they wouldn't bother learning and changing things up.

2) It's obvious that not everyone liked each and every expansion, which you can clearly see all over youtube from various players and various youtube folk who are well known within different gaming communities.

You seem to have this odd fixation like some have had on here, where the game is simply godlike amazing and any ill talk has poeople labled rather easily as "haters".

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Stop giving AAA devs money.

Yeah, I won't be buying this game.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

No game is perfect and no expansions get 100% approval by fanbases.

That said, the idea that the expansions didn't provide content, especially when they are compared to games like MK8 and Witcher 3 is absolutely absurd.

Destiny base game had 1 raid, 6 strikes, 22 story missions, and 5 PvP modes.

By the end with 4 expansions (Dark Below, House of Wolves, Taken King, Rise of Iron) it had 4 raids, 20 strikes, 14 pvp modes, and 43 story missions.

Now, did the game have its problems?  Absolutely.  Was the closing out of end game content for vanilla players because they didn't buy expansions ridiculous?  Absolutely.  But did the expansions lack content?  Numbers say no.

All the more reason to wait a year or two and get the full edition.

Agreed, but t h I would have done this anyway. After Destiny 1 disappointed, I'm waiting for the price to fall.

I'm not against the idea of Bungie/Activision selling expansions packs and DLC after the base game launches, as long as the base game has enough content already.

But I don't really see this as a problem of content quantity. I see a problem of content quality. If the basic gameplay scenarios of Destiny 2 aren't fun, then what's the value in getting more of them?

You can stuff it to the brim, but voices will tell you how the content "tasted".

There is a reason why people talk fondly of Witcher 3's story and quests and why some would pit it against Destiny, which is suppoed to be a behomoth in terms of lore and content compared to a small Polish dev team. Mind you, don't forget that Activision is footing the bill here, their CoD franchise isn't doing so great in later years, surely they could hire the cream of the crop and turn it around right?.

Or chances are they will keep churning out the same type of content in abundance and calling it a day, while also slapping MT's into their current and older rehashed titles.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but we're seeing some fixes going on with D2, so something ust not have hit the right notes if they are changing things up now, CoD did great for years keeping the same gig going, it's obvious that said gig cannot go on forever though and it seems to have fallen short with Destiny for them to have to change things here and there (especially for PC players who haven't played the first game).

This news definitely sucks....however, I'd rather spend $60 on a half-ass initial release of Destiny 2 than
a shitty-ass release of another lame COD title.

Yah right.. sorry but this whole high horse everyone takes with every shitty triple a game "at least its not another shitty COD amirite?" is just so overplayed and stupid.

At least the new COD looks F U N.

It is interesting to see some people react with "we dont know if its actually cut content" . People assume all the time that shitty dlc is cut content, bit what if its just shitty? Who knows, id be interested to see if theres facts tp back up expansions being cut. Either way making a complete game THEN having good expansions is better
