Unrelated but that signature picture is a bit much, don't you think?

Dragon Ball Super feels like the natural progression of Dragon Ball Z. Despite Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z belonging to the same Dragon Ball manga, there is a transition from adventure/comedy to action/comedy that's highlighted in the anime. Dragon Ball Super continues Dragon Ball Z's train-fight-repeat formula: X is the strongest being in the universe, the main characters train to beat X, the characters beat X, an even stronger being Y comes up, now the main characters train to beat Y, etc. It's a constant game of power levels.

You've actually made me curious. I love bad/cheesy shows/movies/games, so I may check this out. However, I haven't read the original manga, nor have I seen the original series, so I won't be doing that for a while!

I agree with this, DBS is pretty much like DBZ.  If you like DBZ then you probably going to enjoy DBS.  Not sure why people complain about shows they do not like.  There are plenty of Anime shows a lot of people enjoy I do not like and I just do not waste any time telling peope why I do not like those shows.  Shows are made for fans and if those people enjoy those shows then all is good.  I enjoy DBz.  Its not one of my favorites series but its something that my son and I watch together and try to predict the outcome of the series.

That's unfortunate for you. My fiance and I enjoy it however, probably a solid 7-8/10 atm.

Why is there so much hate for GT?

I remember watching it and it was amazing, sure not as good as DB and DBZ but it had it's charm, that sense of adventure, new planets to explore and stuff.

The only thing i hated about it is how they ruined Goten.

DBGT>DBS

There I said it.

Toriyama has become the George Lucas of anime and he shouldn't matter anymore to where the franchise should be going. Also fire the animators and everyone behind the project, how can the animation be worse than something from 20-30 years ago with all the evolution in technology.

Hmm...

I'll watch a few episodes soon to see how it is. All I remember is watching it when I was 3 years old. Forget it all since then.

Is there more than one version? If so, which one should I watch?

I haven't watched it in quite a while, and wouldn't know of multiple versions.  The english dub is pretty cheesy, I'll say that but it honestly kinda fits given this is a universe where allegedly normal human beings destroy giant robots with scarfs and punt entire ruined buildings and greet each  other with flurries of punches and where the Neo Mexico spacd colony is a giant Sombrero :P

I believe there is only the one dub though.  If the voices are not to your liking, I'm sure there's a good sub to be found.

I'm a pretty casual watcher of anime really, just dabbled in this and that, so pardon my lack of knowledge.

I'm a casual watcher too. I don't go spending hours talking about anime and debating all the foreshadowing or anything (lol). I appreciate shows like Death Note with the intellectual fights, but I enjoy anything good.

I never caught on with many western shows due to their long episodes (40 minutes) and typically a lot of them being rinse-and-repeat cycles. Never watched much TV then either, so typically I watch about 4-6 episodes of anime per week.

You gave Death Parade a 6.8, your opinion is worthless.

It was an 8.9/10 until the ending. I believe they could've done better with the writing and address the old flower dude in a proper way.

Perhaps the reason I'm harsh on it is because I was recommended it directly after Death Note.

I don't know what happened to the voices. I don't know what's happening with this franchise. Dear god, at least Boruto is tolerable. Super makes me want to die.

The characters sound like they took some hits to the balls or something. I just can't stand their voices. It's extremely irritating. I was gonna give it a shot but those voices....

Anyway, Boruto is alright. It will probably get better as the character and the new series gets a little more serious. I didn't really like naruto til he started to mature some. I actually like shippuden more than I did the earlier naruto.

I really like My Hero Academia though. I hope it keeps going for awhile.

Boruto actually has solid character development, so I'm okay with a mediocre plot if it means we see along the lines of Naruto or better.

My Hero is great. Two seasons in and they just started in the hero agencies. I anticipate it keeping the momentum.

I used to watch a lot of anime back around the turn of the century when it was really popular here in the U.S. I greatly enjoyed the likes of Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Dragon Ball Z, Cardcaptors (a.k.a. Cardcaptor Sakura), Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell (the first two movies and series), Inu Yasha, Astro Boy, Magic Knight Rayearth, The Big O, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Naruto, and these days I enjoy Attack on Titan. Most of all though, I enjoyed a number of anime movies, from Akira to Grave of the Fireflies, and of course Studio Ghibli masterpieces like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and my favorite anime movie of all time, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.

Overall though, the truth is that the general quality of anime has taken a nosedive over the course of the current century. Aside from Attack on Titan, none of the new material I've seen on Toonami in recent years has appealed to me, including Dragon Ball Super (which I have yet to enjoy a single moment of). Anime today seems overwhelmingly dependent on rigid formulas and pathetically cheesy humor to a degree that it was not in the past.

There are a lot of quality anime out there nowadays. Attack on Titan, Jojo, One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, My Hero Academia, and many others.

That's...a low score. *whistles*

I watched the original series (and GT I guess), and while I enjoyed them as a kid, I doubt I'd be nearly as forgiving now. Never had much of an interest in Super for that reason.

I'm glad to see you rate MHA so highly. I follow both the manga and anime, and both are fantastic. Like you said, I like that the MC is your average Joe, and doesn't have some tragic backstory shoehorned in.

I think My Hero deserves the high score I gave it. Even without its flaws, the great parts to it make it such a memorable show. I remember watching the Chunin Exam and jumping around when I was young. I'll probably remember MHA when I get older as well.

GT is disappointing, but it was anime-only at least. Super makes me wish we had the plotlines of some fanfiction I've seen before.

You still haven't watched FMA Brotherhood ?! what the fucking hell are u waiting for ! :D

And DBS is not that bad come onnn it has goten so much better i don't know what anime you watched seriously.. it has problems like power scales and Goku's character being turned into a moron but other than that it's awesome.
