Forums - Sony Discussion - So, LTTP: PlayStation 4 (TLoU, Uncharted, Bloodborne)

So, I have a PS4 in my house. But I didn't buy, my best friend borrowed me for a time with a lot of games to try.

From the ones I have played so far:

* THE LAST OF US REMASTERED

Finished. Great game with great characters and interactions. Sucks at stealth, so I had to fight almost in every map. Story is good but predictable. I believe this game is the real evolution of RE4. Not pretty scary but a lot of tense moments (only played in normal mode). Gonna try another time later.

* BLOODBORNE

Love it. Of course, I suck at it, but still gonna keep trying. Until now, I'm looking for a shorcut before fighting the cleric beast. Love the artstyle (one of my fav ever) and soundtrack. Now this game is scary. Love the combat. I want a crossover between Souls and Zelda.

* UNCHARTED (1 TO 4)

Only started 1 at 40%, but gonna try all the 4 in order, alternating with Bloodborne. Indiana Jones with a comic character. I like it so far.

* OVERWATCH

Need to get the controls. Killed some but of course, another game I sucks.

-------

Overall great experiences. I still have maybe other options like Xcom2 and Battlefield 1.

My only complains are the terrible UI (to turn off the console is a complicated puzzle) and the controllers (battery is a joke).

In case anyone was asking...

Yeah I found Bloodbourne to much of a grind so gave up. Uncharted gets a bit boring for me. TLOUR is amazing great game. You get GTA5? That's another classic. Also yeah that battery life sucks in DS4 controllers esp if you used to a pro controller on Wii u (80hrs) or Switch (40hrs).

So, is it making you consider buying one?

I grind enough already to buy the first set. Have died so much times that I have lost like 10,000. And that's only in central part. Not even reach the first boss.

There is little to no need to grind in Souls/BB games. Bosses give you so many Souls/Echoes making regular enemies a waste of time. If you were having trouble progressing, co-op would probably be the best way to accomplish that.

Just wanted to point that out. I get defensive about the games I love.

You should understand that not everyone is good. I find this game hard, even with normal enemies. So grinding is the only way to progress to me. I still love it.

Maybe. But I have other priorities like Skyrim and Xeno2.

Bloodborne and Uncharted are both great series. The second and fourth installment are the best though. Be sure to pick up Horizon and Ratchet and Clank. I think you will enjoy both games. If you decide to buy one that is and yes you totally should.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I never felt bloodborne to be grindy. If anything, I started over cause last time I played it and stopped halfway through and i feel like i'm flying through it (granted, I think i'm a bit over-leveled since i've beaten a few bosses on my first attempt) As I naturally fight my way through an area, I just gain a bunch of souls and level up. All those games are great in their own right.

Just started back up with Bloodborne a couple of days ago even though I bought it at the time of this games release and
Wow! I've learned more today than I ever had with having this game this entire time.

With the lack of hand holding. This being my first Souls game. I've been playing this all wrong. It's not a bad User Interface, because it works really well for navigating it fast. Just I finally figured out how to properly exit the game while playing. Otherwise I was exiting by using consoles home screen and quitting the App. from there.

Turns out I was supposed to
-press "options"
-click right on D-pad twice
-press "x" to enter the menu
-go to Title Screen, which will also automatically save the game

I also just found out how to run. It is all about holding the "circle" button down. Crazy I've been tanking this whole time casually walking up to enemies.

I also just learned that pressing the L1 shoulder button extends the weapon (as well as shortens it).

So with all that I learned today. The game got a whole lot more bearable! Finally was able to run past a bunch of enemies to unlock the shortcut to the Cleric Beast. Been able to knock 1/10 of his health bar down a couple times but I'll have to farm a few more times before trying again.

I've got a lot respect for anyone that beats these kinds of games. Such aggravation!

Depends some bosses like the Witch of Hamwick and a few others are really easy. While the first two fights can be a real pain in the ass. I one shorted the cleric beast using molotovs and a shit ton of luck. But the next one (don't want to spoil anything) really was a true pain in the ass. Timing is key in this series and playing aggressive while knowing what you are doing pays off. I loved all my three playtroughs I even have the platinum trophy.
