Forums - General Discussion - The Rise and Fall of a certain Star

The absolute last thing I come here for is political topics. They are all heated issues that no-one agrees on. I game and visit gaming related sites to escape drama not partake in it.

I was surprised when you were less level-headed from your usual self after you left the team. Reading over how much is going on in your life right now, I can definitely understand why. It's great that you are able to self-evaluate and isolate the root of your problem. Best of luck on your endeavors!

That was a read. Wish you all the best man.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I was happy to participate in most of your "Star at the Bar" threads, and I am also glad I avoided the politics cesspool :P. But really was fun, and a good distraction from my studies :). Most of the topics were good.

However it did seem even then, that you should have been spending less time with this site. When you revealed long ago just how much you worked and had a girlfriend to care for, while still being a moderator, I simply felt that it was too much. Take a nice break and reconvene here once again.

I already miss you, but I miss even more Tachikoma.

StarOcean you were a terrible mod

Hmmm...how so?

As stated above.  As a mod, in your mod function, you must separate your personal preference.  Hate seeing a bunch of NX threads?  No one cares.  It's like politics, some will like them, some will hate them, but the role of the mod is to simply encourage civil discussion.  Star had a bit of a challenge detatching his preferences.

I was more than happy with that NX threads ban. At that time, when we still knew almost nothing about it, at least a couple of threads were made everyday about the damn thing, and sometimes the number was much, much higher (and with a lot of duplicates).

Sure, the site slowed down considerably, but it was a welcome relief.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Yeah, some users can really get under your skin sometimes, so I know how you feel.

Hope you come back soon Star. And whener you have a problem and just wants to talk, just PM me and lets talk!I would love nothing more than that.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

The NX threads were too much. People do, and did, care. As for what it is to be a Mod - a lot more goes into it than simply curbing preferences and the average user can't even begin to understand the stress that accompanies the job. Star had to step down for a multitude of reasons.

Some cared; many enjoyed them - obviously, since people were making them all the time.  That's the point.  Also, there's no need to be condescending. I think most users are more than mentally capabale of understanding the extreme stress you deal with.  It's right up there with fighting the Taliban and heart surgery.
