Forums - General Discussion - The Rise and Fall of a certain Star

Glad I got to know you a bit better in Star At The Bar. Thanks for sharing the circumstances that had lead to the changes in the tone of your posts. I never thought less of you though. Probably because we have similar political ideologies. When we change the oil in our cars, we dump it directly into the stream, and we think that Trump is as smart as he is honest. Which is to say, bigly. As I said before, this site is better with you than without. Take care in the meantime.

80 hours a week is overkill. Been there, and I can say with confident that it's the stupidest thing I've ever done.

I'd advise you to lower it to 50 hours a week and do something that actually improves your life in those 30 hours you spare by working less. (college, online degrees, vocational training, internships to explore your talents and where you find yourself most comfortable etc)

Best of luck.

So what came of this anger? I lashed out at the political spectrum because I dislike Donald Trump. This isn't from a left or right perspective but rather from a personal and value one. Of course, I'm not going to bother with hard details here but I will say his disregard for the environment and treatment of people with disabilities (see him making fun of special needs people)

There were several faked videos of Trump supposedly making fun of disabled. JK Rowling had a meltdown over Trump 'snubbing' a handicapped boy (the handshake was removed from the original video) - she had to apoligize after being called out by the parents of the boy.

On another note, moving out is always difficult if you go into a high price area without good savings - living single is a luxury for some time in life, look for a partner or roommate and split the bills.

Working 80 hours a week is no way to live. Assuming 8 hours of sleep, that gives you only 4-½ hours a day not sleeping or at work on average, and much if not most of that would be spent eating, commuting, showering, and using the bathroom. I'd go mental. The idea of essentially all my time in the prime years of my life being utterly consumed by a job just frightens me, because I'm keenly aware that all of us have a finite amount of hours to live. So, I do understand it if you're going through a lot of stress. I'm glad I live in a place where the cost of living is relatively low and don't need two full-time jobs to survive.

That's why it's important to poop on company time whenever possible.

StarOcean you were a terrible mod but you are a most excellent poster. The NX threads as a good example, they annoyed you but were not necessarily objectively bad. They were also destined to die upon its eventual reveal, so a forum should just embrace the over hype while it was hot. Restricting expression will bore people and push them away from the site. Being neutral as a mod can be tough.

But as a poster you're the bomb. Interesting, intelligent thoughts and commentary. I hope you return when you have more time.

"The Rise and Fall of a certain Star"

...and the Spiders from Mars?

In all seriousness, I don't know who you are. I remember you backlashing against a user for something about a suicide or trump or something. But I don't really know you.

I will, however, say that if you being cranky and angsty on a website was a way to relieve stress, I don't really think we can get upset at you for that. Sure being a mod should mean showing more constraint, but we all have our moments and I think I speak for most people that if having a brief few months of frustration and anger eventually lead to happiness, it's better that you get this part of your life out of the way then just ignore it. We all go through periods of life like this, and it's better to just let it happen then to ignore it. So good luck!

Take care of yourself Star and don't feel so bad for lashing at Donald Trump, he's truly a despicable human being.

Signature goes here!

You're a good guy, take care. Best wishes and farewell. :)

Thought this thread was about astronomy...oh boy was I wrong....

Well, good thing you can see and talk about what went wrong. Now you are able to fix it and wish you good luck on it.
