It could be PS4 > 3DS in sell through. Dayum!!

I'm just glad DQ sold great. I still think 3Ds would have the upper hand on overall sales due to install base. And knowing japanese people, they really don't have time to sit on the couch and play it at home. If Sony had SE strike a deal like PS4+Vita version around 79.99 or so. Then it would be better. Japanese love to play during commute, etc... rather than playing at home. Hope they'll release the Switch version within 3 months.

We still don't have any release date in the west, hope Switch, PS4 and 3Ds would be released at the same time.

Japanese people seem doesn't complain that the game is only 30 fps. If this was released in the west, I know there would be a ton of videos that would hate it due to 30 fps only. :)

Not really as DQ has always destroyed FF in Japan.

DQ really is a cultural phenomenon in Japan.

Except Final Fantasy 7 and 8. While Dragon Quest 7 sold more, it wasn't "destruction" levels of sales. Plus being the only Dragon Quest on PSX, being released when the PSX had the highest active userbase, and being the first DQ game released in 5 years, helped it sell higher than its potential would have otherwise been. Even so, it sold only 10% better than FF8, and 20% than FF7, but FF7 and FF8 both outsold DQ6, and DQ8, while outselling FF7, failed to outsell FF8.

I am hoping for a DQVII-DQIX on PSN though, that would be ace. I hear DQV and VI are actually good, so I wouldn't say no to those either.

Fairly sure that only includes 2 day shipments, while this announcement includes extra shipments. PS4 version was almost sold out, so its surely more physical shipments included rather then the 300k+ digital.

I'm sending a massive fuck you to all the negative downplayers over on mediacreate Neogaf. Ever since they announced DQ11 they have been negative especially about the ps4 version and recently with their "oh no the game is declining bs". 

Well we know it's first shipment and sell through so we also know digital is good and I'd imagine most are the more expensive ps4 version. So the series is in RUDE health.  Take that negative gaf.  Time you all bend over and kiss DQ11 and SE's feet.  Now go off an pick your next Japanese title to downplay and be negative about.

Your comparison is a bit off because comparing previous games isn't reflective of the point being put forward which is DQ normally does better than the FF games released alongside it for example DQ7 outsold 7,8 and 9 while DQ8 outsold both X and XII, DQIX blew away FFXIII etc... The performance of games released in previous gen cycles doesn't really factor into the context here.

The person I replied to was implying DQXI beating out FFXV was a victory for traditional rpgs when the truth of the matter is DQ beating out FF in japan is a common occurance.
